Dr. James Edward Nell, MD

Went to Northcrest ER in SEVERE pain, vomiting and fever and was told it was a virus and was a drug seeking. Turns out it was 3 stones in the bile duct, jerk!! St. Thomas found and fixed it.

I took my husband to Northcrest Hospital ER on Dec.19th and after 6 hours of tests, including x-rays, ultrasound, CT and bloodwork, we were sent on our way with a prescription of Prilosec, for reflux. Over the next 1 1/2 days his condition worsened, so I took him to Skyline ER. With a few tests and a couple of competent physicians, he was admitted for pneumonia and had surgery for a necrotic, ruptured gallbladder. And Dr. Nell couldn't determine anything but "reflux"?? I wouldn't advise anyone I care about to see Dr. Nell OR go to Northcrest Hospital.

I encountered Dr. Nell through the ER at Hendersonville hospital. We've been going to Hendersonville for many years and thankfully have never encountered him. Without a long, detailed story, dr. Nell wrongfully assumed we were there to get stronger pain meds. Sadly with the attention on opioid abuse, I'm afraid folks who are in chronic pain encounter a skeptical society. I do, however, expect a physician to get to the bottom of a complaint. Most senior citizens don't go to the ER at 4 in the morning in order to get pain meds. Dr Nell made an assumption even after looking at my husband's wound site that he just wanted better drugs. We left without any help or even a suggestion of where to find help. It was shameful treatment by a so called physician. If you've had a better experience I'm very glad you did. I hope no one is ever treated like that by him again.
