Dr. James Terrell Newby JR., DO

Been seeing Dr Newby for around 6 years. Went to him after years of pain and being sent home with a anti itch cream when I had staph! So thankful he did comprehensive bloodwork and identified an autoimmune disease. Has referred me to a rheumatologist and cardiologist and is always advocating for a healthy lifestyle. Also, he sees our daughter and has persistently and carefully unraveled her many symptoms. She is now under the care of a liver specialist and Dr Newby is treating her for the other health issues that come along with liver disease. We will not go any place else!!

IMO: his rudeness and arrogance is dangerous! RUN do not walk away from this narcissist! IMO he is incompetent, has a complete disregard for the Hippocratic oath, condescending toward patient concerns, fails to follow up on reports-collaboration with other healthcare members, and IMO it is difficult to distinguish his behavior from that of a person who is under the influence of a substance.

Arrogant, Rude, ill-Mannered, Vindictive adequately describes Dr. Newby in my experience. Multitasking and putting the pieces of you're medical puzzle together is not his forte. This 'Dr.' needs to stick to sprains and colds, and not serious, possibly even life threatening disease. In this towns Cradle Of Medical Idiocy, he jockies for first place. I've been seeing him quite a while, and I am just as ill now as I was from day one. I'd have more respect if hed just say that he wasn't sure what's wrong, but would do all he could to find out. Ahhh...Dr.s and their egos. I should have known something was inadequate the time he did some blood work all related to sicknesses from Africa, things I could not have possibly had in a million years, such as elephantiasis. I've never been to Africa. So what I see him doing is throwing any old medical test up there, even if it doesnt pertain to you, and get paid doing it. There is a million things I could say here, but i have to say that… if you are not trying to be on top of your medical game, if you are someone who never questions his or ANY Dr.s decision, if you are the type who just hands yourself over and ALL that he says goes. Then he will like you, you will make his job simpler and easier, you are not in danger of seeing his arrogance, by not questioning anything. But if you question him or anything about what hes doing for you, then you will eventually see what I've seen in him. He considers you a 'Problem Patient' if you dare have anything to say about your care that does not jibe with his opinions. Beyond that, his nurse is absolutely great, and I think the two should swap jobs. It helps me to keep in mind that Dr.s work for you, you dont work for them. They get paid everytime you walk thru their door. Make sure you dont have to pay them 50 times for the same old issue, while you get sicker and sicker. And if you are someone who has a lot of medical issues, be certain the Dr. You see is capable and qualified. If you dont believe me.....Challenge him sometime.

I absolutely loved dr newby! I got 3 months supply on prescriptions with refills. He seemed to really care about patients. His nurse was terrible though.

I will miss Dr. Newby at Erlanger Family Practice. He was MY first Primary Care Dr. who went above and beyond. I totally understand him wanting to practice in a professional office, with competent assistants backing him up. Sadly, this practice didn't have that for him. Good Luck Dr. Newby!!! You wil be missed. My 4 star rating is for Dr. Newby, NOT Erlanger Family Practice
