Dr. James William Norys, MD

I saw Dr. Norys over three years. At first I thought he was a good doctor. But, over time he got sloppy with the meds he prescribed, was aloof, seeming to wish the appointment was over, failed to find a serious infection which eventually made me very ill for a long time before I went to another doctor. He also failed repeatedly to not follow up with me about several tests he sent me to have. He also gave very perfunctory yearly physicals, not at all thorough. When I asked to see another doctor I was treated rudely by staff and was told by staff that the other doctors would not see me, nor would they give me a reason why.

Excellent practitioner, wonderful staff - compassionate and professional

I have had panic attacks since my wife died in 1999. Dr. Norys found the cancer and I have contracted a prolactinoma tumor which has caused many health issues. One of them is not being able to sleep and waking up with panic attacks. I had been on a medication that was working but Dr. Norys changed my medication and what he has given me does not work. When I ask him about changing back to the medication that was working he told me he would not put me back on it. He said I would become addicted to it. So I've been on it since 1999 and it was working just needed higher doseage. When I finally got him on the phone he told me that well I guess you just wont be able to sleep. He is unprofessional with this response and I cannot believe he was mad because he was questioned about the medication he had given me. I would not recommend him. Find someone else that will listen to you. After all, you know your body better than any Dr. seems they are all smarter than you are when it comes to your… health issues.

I had a horrible experience with Dr Norys a few years ago. At the time he was my primary care physician and I was being seen at Ozark Guidance Center for severe depression due to the loss of my son. At one point the counselor at The guidance center thought I was having some physical problems due to the emotional stress (like possible stroke or other neurological problem since I was stuttering and hyper ventilating, etc.) I put a call into Dr Norys and he NEVER returned my call! This went on for several days and my husband finally had him paged through the hospital and spoke with him. He explained that he didn't think it was anything to worry about and just chose not to call!!! We had to find a new physician for me and they put me in the hospital for 4 days and ran many tests on me.

Dr. Norys is a very good doctor, He is humble, not quick to judge, listens intently to the needs of the patient. His concern is doing the best for his patient. I recommend him very highly.

He truly cares about his patients, and it shows. He's pleasant and personable, and he respects the patient's questions about the problem.

Patient is overweight and has been working to correct the problem while also visiting this doctor for years. He will simply not help her beyond reminding her that she is overweight and that she needs to lose a lot of weight. This is not the first time he has left her feeling sad and depressed and has seriously hurt her own self image. He needs to work on treating fat people as people too.
