Dr. James Nyland has been practicing pediatric dentistry in Columbia, SC for over thirty years. He is a graduate of Harbor High School in Ashtabula, Ohio and earned his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Ohio State University.  He received his D.D.S. degree at Ohio State University and completed his residency at Columbus Childrens’ Hospital in Ohio. Dr. Nyland served in the United States Military at Fort Jackson, SC as an Army dentist. His military career of 10 years also included 8 years as a reservist. Dr. Nyland belongs to many dental organizations.  He was president of the Greater Columbia Dental Association in 1987.  In 1992, Dr. Nyland was president of the South Society of Pediatric Dentistry. He is currently serving as Chairman of Continuing Education for the Southeastern Society of Pediatic Dentistry, a job he has held for over 25 years.
Dr. Nyland is blessed to have had great parents (Albert and Kathryn) and a loving wife, Jill Alberson Nyland, formerly of …Fountain Inn, S.C.  He is proud of his family which includes 3 sons and many wonderful and close relatives throughout the country. In 2009, Dr. Nyland was elected to his high school’s Hall of Fame.
