Dr. James Paul Ohr, DO

He has a terrible bedside manner. He doesn't listen to patient symptoms. You don't want this man for you doctor. Got a 1900.00 bill for a 12 minute visit with this man who offers nothing.

I was referred to a hematologist due to a year of elevated platelet counts. I didn't have to wait long to see him and when he came in, he told me he had already consulted with my hepatologist I'm seeing for consistent elevated liver enzymes. That is amazing and unheard of with doctors let alone specialists. I was ready to get written off by yet another specialist because although my bloodwork was consistently elevated it wasn't life threatening or ultra concerning. He said he agreed with my hepatologist that I have some sort of autoimmune liver condition and said he would continue to work with my liver doctor to see what is going on. He was truly amazing, professional, collaborative and kind. I highly recommend!

My husband saw Dr Ohr for about 3.5 years for his stage 4 Thyroid cancer. He continuously had the attitude that there was no hope regarding his case and would just shrug his shoulders and start talking about all the famous sports people he knew. We went in a few times and he didn’t even know what meds / dose my husband was on and never researched to helped find treatment outside of UPMC. My husband was very thin and weak from the chemo and we thought a feeding tube would be the next thing....he never told us it wouldn’t be an option if he get too weak...why didn’t he suggest it earlier? When he gave my husband the news he was going into hospice he said “well we always knew this was going to happen bud” as my husband sat there looking at a picture of our four year old daughter crying. My husband passed away and I hate myself for not finding a doctor that cared. Please don’t go to him.

Doesn't seem to care about the patient and just wants to get them discharged as soon as possible. Went against other doctors recommendations for treatment and does not listen.

Have been under Dr Ohr's care for 5 years. Dr Ohr deals literally with "life or death" daily. Never was he an alamist. Always looked at my total body chemistry. As the commercial says: "I didn't choice to have cancer, but I did choice Dr Ohr".

uncaring, abrupt, not knowledgable

If you are thinking about using Dr. Ohr--think again. We have just finished our experience with him. He was cold, uncaring and did not listen. He basically said chemo was a bear and did nothing to improve quality of life or appear to listen. Luckily we has other physicians who were more responsive.

Not very knowledgeable on Stage 4 Oral Cancer...Not knowledgeable on anything not drug related...You do your own research with him...

Chemo is "cruel" and Dr Ohr understood and took action to help make this cruel treatment with the difficult "physical" and "mental" challenges bearable. His follow up and attention to all of my lab work; referrals to other physicians working with the insurance companies puts him in the top with compassion and care.

I am really not impressed with Dr. Ohr. I was left to wait in the exam room for over an hour. No one came to check back with me to tell me how much longer or what was going on. When he came in, he had only skimmed over my previous medical records and suggested tests that had already been done. He was not able to answer my questions, and instead of saying, "I don't know" he implied everything was fine and normal. My visit with him was a complete waste of time. Maybe he does better with colorectal and head and neck cancer cases.
