Dr. James Ken Okamoto

I love Dr. James Okamoto and the care he has provided over the many years he has been my primary care physician. He is always caring, listens well, helpful in providing tips for self-care (diet, exercise, health). Excellent bedside manners! I love the doctor-patient relationship we share.

I've enjoyed excellent care from Dr. Okamoto for years. He has always treated me with friendliness and respect. It is clear that caring for people and their health is his passion. When he made the switch in practice to the MDVIP program, my trust in him was the sole reason I enrolled, and I am glad I did so.

Dr. Okamoto is knowledgeable and caring. He is a good communicator who can make difficult concepts easy to understand. I’m often amazed at his breadth of knowledge and he is friendly and pleasant always. He answers all my questions and I never feel rushed. My health has definitely improved since I have started seeing him as my doctor.

Having been a patient of Dr. Okamoto's for over 6 years now, I have had much opportunity to be the fortunate recipient of his genuine caring attitude and expertise. Dr. Okamoto, and the manner in which he conducts his practice, is a throwback to how medicine had been practiced in earlier days-a physician who wants to know the whole person, in order to serve him/her better. He allots more time, attention and thoughtful feedback to me by far than any physician I have ever seen, and I would recommend him absolutely without qualification or any hesitation whatsoever.

There must be a reason why he relocated. Overall at my visit, he seemed unsympathetic, rude, and self-involved. If he would have taken a little time just to listen and show some care, I would have stayed at his practice, but now I am moving on. I also hear he attacks his colleagues.

I saw Dr. Okamoto online on a Sunday for a health concern immediately, and he seemed to be the most knowledgeable and competent doctor I have seen in a while, so I could not rate his staff, but he understood my issue better than any other doctor I have seen in very little time to review my information.

Took my Dad there for his first visit after being discharged from the hospital. I was expecting a physician who was more proactive, asking questions, making recommendations, etc., but this was not the case. If I didn't make recommendations for therapy, adjusting the meds, making a follow-up appointment, etc., I don't think he would have even considered them. Maybe it was too early (830 am), but Dr. Okamoto seemed to be a little slow as a clinician, based on my experiences with my own doctors who seem to be on top of things.

I never felt rushed. Small office, but I didn't have to wait in a large waiting room full of sick people, they put me right in a room.
