Dr. James Lee Owens, MD

They don't allow new patients. I have been going here since I was a child and it was in the old location. They told me since I hadn't been in 3 years that I was considered a new patient and they aren't accepting new patients.

They always give me the most difficult time coming in and every time I've been seen the actual medical issue on hand is overlooked, given about three minutes of dr Owens time

Dr. Dr. Owens has treated my husband and me for several years. Recently he treated my mother who was a patient at Sentara Nursing Home in Barco for 3 years. Dr. Owens is extremely kind, patient and courteous. His ability to reach beyond the physical and explore the emotional is comforting. He is always willing to go 'above and beyond'.

The WORST place ever! I waited in the parking lot for over a hour waiting for the office to open, only to get pushed bck to tenth to sign in. Then the staff was so rude it was ridiculous! I dont know who the blonde girl is that is the main receptionist but she has the WORST personality ever! Only to get treated worse once your in the back. Heaven forbid you hurt yourself in the yard or moving something. They treat you like a drug seeker and are completely rude and unprofessional. You can over hear there personal conversations which are very unprodessional to speak about in such a small office. this practice is staffed to rude and very unpleasent staff and I will NEVER recommend them to ANYONE!

I would say that all is find, I have only one suggestion, for a example, I would be the first person in the parking lot at least one hour before he opens the door, then some one comes up & runs ahead of you to sign in,this is totaly wrong, My suggestion is to put a bigger sign at front door so people can see & obey the rules

Overall, I LOVE Carolina Family Practice. Although at times his staff's personalities and courtiousness leaves something to be desired, Dr. Owens himself is the most caring, professional Dr. I;ve ever met in my 32 years! He spends time with each patient and really HEARS them when you talk to him as I have found in most cases with other doctors offices that I feel like they treat all their patients like cattle...the ol' "move 'em in, ship 'em out" scenario...but not with Dr. Owens! He is my family physician and will continue to be so until he retires! I cannot say enough good things about this doctor! I think he may need to give some of his staff some lessons on followup and courteousness...but for the most part, his staff is okay. I, personally, would rather have a GREAT doctor with an 'ok' staff, then the other way around. Dr. Owens is the BEST!!!

I met Dr. O during his residency and he is the best MD I have ever met.
