Dr. James Elwood Pate

I went to Dr. Pate after seeing 2 other doctors. I had radiating pain from my gums and jaw to my ear. This pain was at times debilitating. I wasn’t able to sleep because the pain was so severe, and I had missed a lot of work. Because I also had other symptoms going on, I didn’t know for sure if my issue was dentistry or medical. My PCP dx my problem as swollen salivary glands. But when the pain persisted, I went to see Dr. Pate. I was appalled by his rude dismissive attitude. He looked at my teeth for about 3 seconds, said he didn’t see anything and left the room. The assistant came in moments later and said, you are done here”. I left the office in tears. I had an infection in my molar. The endodontics treated it but it remains uncertain whether the tooth can be saved. It will more than likely be extracted. Dr. Pate did not do an assessment, nor did he run any test. He talked more than he would listen. He was dismissive, crass, and judgemental. My experience was… horrible. I will never go back.
