Dr. James Reese Phillips, DO

Knowledge and sharing of this in realistic terms. Availability, caring and he's keeping me healthy. He is also willing to order and suggest consults. He works well with other specialties.

Dr. Phillips has been my primary doctors for over 20 years. He is an excellent doctor as he listens to my concerns and is very thorough in explaining treatment options. During my routine physical this spring he diagnosed a life-threatening condition I had. The early diagnosis resulted in timely treatment and I am on the mend.

Doctor Phillips has been very helpful to me since I started seeing him about two years ago. I absolutely hate going to the doctors office, but I don't mind going to see him. He's very knowledgable and yet he'll also tell you if another doctor would be better because they know more. He's helped me with many of my issues.

I've been a patient of Dr. Phillips for a long time now and I think he's terrific. I would recommend him to anyone. I am very satisfied in all respects for this doctor and his staff.

Dr. Phillips is a doctor of osteopathy, whose philosophy of treatment aligns with mine. He has been my primary care doctor since he began practicing. I find that he listens to me and doesn't make any presuppositions. He does take me seriously. He makes recommendations then explains what my choices are. He has never failed to forward me to a specialist when needed. I consider him a friend. However, I have had difficulties communicating with the office before. I've left messages that I either did not get a response to or were not as timely as they should have been. I have asked the office to leave messages with answers to questions instead of just simply asking me to return the call, which delays communication further, if I get sent to voicemail when I call back. (I work evenings so I cannot answer phone calls in the evenings when that is their normal routine to return calls) This is a procedural problem and no reflection on Dr. Phillips competency as a physician.

Dr. Phillips is a poor doctor. He does not listen to you. He diagnoses your illness within ten seconds and won't change that opinion according to your additional description. He prefers to let you get over your infection on your own, rather than give meds. This is ok sometimes, not ok sometimes. He decides if you have strep without testing and when you come back several times and insist no being tested, he will reluctantly agree and act surprised when its positive. He just doesn't listen. He repeatedly chooses not to treat you and family members for things that need treatment. You go to another Dr and they can't figure out why he didn't treat you. He wouldn't give one family member a physical for nursing school because he didn't think she could do nursing because she had minor arthritis in her back. She went elsewhere and has been a very successful nurse for fifteen years with no problems. And if you should happen to know anything at all about medicine because it's your job, he will… discount everything you think you know, because you dare to think you might know something. He's the Dr, not you. Just find someone else. Ie not, good luck to you.

One time it took his office two weeks to return my phone call.
