Dr. James Frederick Porter, MD

I have been waking up with severe pain for many months after several hours sleep along with other symptoms. Several specialists and my primary doctor believe I have an inflammatory condition based on several blood tests, procedures and pathology from a surgery. Dr Porter ran no further testing as I have a previous psychological diagnosis. He immediately blamed it on me learning to do more mindfulness so the pain doesn’t feel so severe. I wake up with it after several hours sleep so it is not like it happens when I’m thinking about. Dr Porter is very biased against anyone with a previous psychological diagnosis and places a stigma on them. Do not bother with him if you have any type of psychological diagnosis previously as he will ignore previous abnormal results, not run any further testing and jump to the psychological diagnosis as the cause.

I take reviews seriously, especially negative ones. Which is why it took some thought to decide to write this. For the sake of others like me and maybe the chance that Dr.Porter will read this and grow from it, I have decided to post my review. I met Dr. Porter in a time of crisis. I had a range of seemingly unrelated symptoms that my GP doctor couldn't figure out. One main symtom was pain. He ran a full work up, kudos for that I suppose. Unfortunately for me, all came back "normal" and he preceded to explain that some people just feel pain that others don't. He mentioned psychological therapy and I realized that he didn't believe me. I waited almost a full year to return to a new rheumatologist who diagnosed my rare autoimmune disease, which doesn't show on any of the tests he ran. I suffered both humiliation and physically because of his rush to judge. I am a young female who looks fine on the outside. He is probably a good doctor when it comes to the cut and dry things. My… experience was not cut and dry.
