Dr. James Arthur Posey III, MD

Does not return phone calls. No followup. No sense of urgency. Cancer patients deserve better than this doctor.

Dr Posey is the reason we chose Jefferson!! A calming presence, who presents very well, articulate in clear explanation, often with drawings. Dr Posey takes his time, not rushing. Jefferson is lucky to have Dr Posey!!!

The day my Mother had an appointment for his 'care' and plan over her cancer The we should've known to leave immediately. From his lack of professionalism, demeanor, self-absorbed ego that was the beginning to the quick end. He promised hope and treatment and what we got was false promises and palliative care. We found this out after my Mom had passed. We knew more about her rare cancer than he did. He refused to allow a referral to another facility that would treat her vs allowing her to go through his course of little to no actions. We begged for any option as he avoided us. He never showed his face while she was in the hospital after the second admission. The other team came in while he wrote meds, if that. He basically deserted her and for months until we went to higher ups in the hospital. Then with that smirk on his face seemingly made us feel like we were the guilty ones. My mother needed treatment and a doctor, not a face to come in and say everything is fine. No it wasn't. We… tried to move her to another facility but was blocked, by him. The next day she had paperwork to be discharged. About 30 minutes away from the hospital, we had to pull over and call 911. Immediately am ambulance got her back and said she was too sick to be discharged. Spent another 23 hours in the ER with her vomiting bile. No Dr. Posey to be found. After her death we found she was submitted to a blind trial for basic palliative care and no attempts for curative treatment to her cancer. The other doctors from radiation advised that they had thought we knew of this after we called. He allowed MRSA to invade her body 3 times. The 4th time MICU had to tell us she was Septic and life saving procedures immediately followed. We lost her within 48 hours after this. This is by all means a lack of a self disciplined doctor. He has zero remorse for patients, their family and does not have quality of care. Life in itself is a joke to him, it shows in his actions at appointments. He's more worried about his bow tie matching his attire for the day and rolling his mule shoes over backwards than listening to patients. Another two family friends are gone, all under his care as well. I do not recommend this doctor to give my dog a diagnosis nor shot.

Dr. Posey is a very caring man. He gives patients the time needed to address all concerns. He is very caring and perceptive to patient needs. He is a vital member of the Jefferson Cancer Team.

BEST DOCTOR IN THE WORLD!!!

The day my mother was diagnosed with liver cancer was a terrible day. Unfortunately, the attitude, arrogance, poor attentiveness and a general lack of compassion of this doctor made this day even worse. I, having so much experience with the medical field (hepatitis C treatment, tumors, ect) myself, know that there is an acceptable level of annoyance with doctors. I'm used to some of them being less than courteous. However, this doctor created a whole new level of it. He kept looking at himself in the mirror that was behind us smiling and adjusting his hair. As my family and I were just barely grasping the devastation of the less than a year prognosis that we had just heard, he was laughing and talking down to us. He continually pressured my mother to join his trial study (even though we could have the exact same treatment out of it and not risk being in the control group that only gets one drug and not two). We told him clearly that we didn't want to be involved in a trial if… we could receive the same treatments out of it. He acted like we were stupid because we don't have a medical degree even though everyone in my family has at least a masters degree and is very successful. So, he continued to pressure us into it. He carried no sympathy in his voice. His only motivations (for which he admitted his biasness) were to get us into his study (even though he said he didn't think it would help her prognosis). Then, as I sat in tears, he tried to lecture me about how I had a cigarette before the appointment. I know that smoking is horrible but on this day it wasn't really a priority. I asked him how he could talk to us like that and pressure us like that when we had just heard what we heard. He laughed at me. He was uncaring, self centered, and made a horrible day more frustrating. I was shocked by his attitude. After going home we made a decision that we were going to do anything and everything for my mother and her emotional well being and life. We decided not to settle for this uncaring doctor. My mother deserves the best. We are in the process of getting her into a Cancer Treatment Center in Texas. Family and life is far too important to settle for the emotional and professional inadequacies of an arrogant doctor. Please dont settle. Ive learned that hope is good medicine and Ive also learned that we should not live our life by what an arrogant man tells us. A doctor is still a person subject to human flaws.

I've been a patient of Dr. Posey for almost 4 years. I find him to be thorough, always willing to listen, explain tx plan--overall a very caring physician who includes his patients in their care.
