Dr. James Edward Ranochak, MD

I'd bet a thousand bucks that most if not all of the negative reviews about this doctor originate from the same source. Someone with an axe to grind or who is a crusader against painkillers, most likely. I am a chronic pain patient and I have seen the gamut of doctors and clinics. Ranochak is actually one of the harder doctors to get painkillers from, he requires extensive proof and documentation before he will even give you an aspirin. Sure the setup of the clinic is unusual, and the doctor has his idiosyncracies, but he is not breaking any laws, and is for darn sure not running a pill mill.

I have been a patient at his clinic for a year and a half. I am still pleased with the service at the clinic and I am able to get the medication necessary for my condition including for my diabetes at a reasonable price. Although you cannot use insurance for the dr. visit, I find it is much easier to pay the flat $150 fee than to deal with copays and the insurance company's lack of expediency when covering the appropriate costs. This dr. always does urine screens for patients on opioid therapy. He disallows his patients on opioids from parking on the side of the lot near the school and will not allow patients to come before the 30th day as all scripts are written for 30 days. This is stricter than most insurance prescription coverage and CVS and other pharmacies which often allow refills or new scripts of controlled substances as early as 24 days on a 30 day script. The problem is not with the doctor as some describe. The problem is with some of the patients who have only one… purpose: to obtain opioids. These people often ruin what is otherwise a legal and law abiding service for those who medically need it. He kicks these patients out. I imagine after that they are quite bitter they couldn't get what they wanted forever...
