Dr. James M Ricketts, DO

He has the worst bedside manner of any doctor I've ever seen. He is rude and ignores a patient's concerns. With me, when I indicated a concern about back and pelvic pain, he looked at me and said, "You're fat." Can't wait to get a diagnosis from a doctor that cares about their patients.

dr Ricketts is a down to earth easy to talk to physician. Been with him for 6 years and have nothing to good to say. His staff is kind and caring as well. Gonna miss him.

Doctor Ricketts is amazing!

I was with Dr. Ricketts when he was in Alpine.. Stayed with him when he moved to Ramona. Worth the drive from Lakeside. He has a great staff. He is easy to communicate with I have NEVER felt hurried or rushed at any visit. He is down to earth and yeah, old school. He is proactive and up to date. Can't say enough good stuff. I dread him retiring.

Had to choose a new doctor several years ago due to insurance changes at work. Found Dr Ricketts as being the closest to me and checked around my fellow employees to see if anyone had contact with him. 2 people had him and recommended him so I signed on with him in about 2004. I had many chronic medical conditions,all of which he recognized and treated correctly for me. I had to stop working in 2008 due to disabling medical conditions and would lose my insurance when COBRA ran out in 2010. Dr Ricketts knowing I was a Veteran,recommended the VA take over my healthcare. I did that and have been treated by the VA since 2010.....Im now eligible for Medicare/Medicaid and will look to continue my Dr/Patient relationship with Dr Ricketts. In addition,all staff and nurses in his office are professional and just plain nice folks....answer all questions....accomadate me quickly...Ive never had a bad experience there! Highly recommend Dr Ricketts!! Hope he stays in practice many many more years!

My first physician after returning to CA in 20 yrs was Dr. Donnovan Ricketts, James' brother. He was stellar and extremely funny. When he tragically passed away, I'm sure subconsciously, I was looking for his brother to fill that void. Well, of course no one can do that, not even his brother. But after the first couple of visits with Dr. James Ricketts, I learned how very valuable he was, all on his own. Suffice it to say that my 3 years of experience with him has been so great that my husband is now his patient, as is my 3 year old son. I was shocked to read the two messages posted here already, and I'm so very sorry to read that story. That poor woman was treated so horribly by someone and I would have felt the same way in her shoes. My family and I just love him, and his years and years of practical medicine, that even the home remedies he has recommended have worked wonders, whereas another physician would have given us antibiotics or other chemicals potentially harmful to our… bodies without trying a safer and gentler route first. Best wishes to those searching for a new Doctor.

RUDE and uncaring. I had to see him because my doctor was unavailable. I previously had Ricketts as my PCM, and dumped him, only to get his associate as my PCM. This time, I went in and he yelled at me about how FAT I had gotten since I'd last seen him (4 years later, weight gain of 45#). As it turns out, I had Cushing's disease (tumor on my pituitary gland) that went undiagnosed for 6 to 9 years (estimated time Endocrinologist said tumor had been growing) I wouldn't tell anyone to go to this doctor unless they like to be verbally abused and want poor quality treatment.

I wouldn't take my dog to this guy!
