Dr. James Woodward Robey, MD

My husband had surgery for removal of a lipoma at Dr. Robey's office. We had an issue at another doctor's office where the doctor's clinic was in-network, but the surgery center was not. So when I made the appt with Dr. Robey's office, the first thing I asked the receptionist was to check and make sure both the clinic and the surgery center were in-network for our plan. The receptionist assured me over the phone that it was. My husband went and had the surgery done. A month later, we received a bill stating that the claim was denied because the surgery center was out-of-network. We were left with a $900 bill, when it should have been only $200, had they been in-network. After the surgery, when I called to discuss this with the receptionist, she was extremely rude and denied every having this conversation with me. My husband also called a previous time and said they hung up on him when he had a billing question. I would not recommend this office to anyone else. Be very… careful because they will tell you what you want to hear and then deny it later.

Dr. Robey clearly explained the gallbladder surgery & performed it without any incident. He listens, answers questions & doesn't make you feel rushed. I would highly recommend him!

I have known Dr. Robey for many years, and, as a fellow physician, I can state that he is one of the best general surgeons in the area, with excellent bedside manner and outstanding surgical skills, which I can attest to personally, because I was his surgical patient recently. First of all, Dr Robey has been ranked as one if the best doctor's in the area. He's a general surgeon, but I believe his expertise involves the abdomen area. About 7 yrs ago, my sister was dying in the ICU: It was Dr Robey that saved her life. So, when I found out I had an epigastric hernia, I wouldn't go to anyone but Robey (even though he's out of my network!) I TOTALLY trust him. So the next week, I went into surgery, not at all nervous; I felt safe with him. My surgery was more complicated than expected, and I came out with a 7" incision (ironically the same spot & size of my sister's scar.) But you know what? I asked him to fix me...and he did just that. He said if he did it another way, the hernia would definitely come back, so he did what he thought best. Im healing wonderfully and my incision looks beautiful...in the medical world. He fid a xoncise and clean job closing up. He is very easy to talk to, attentive, and knows what he's talking about; a very kind person. (That… helps a whole lot when choosing a surgeon.) I'd put my life in his hands again, no question (knock on wood). If you're looking for an honest surgeon, who is beyond great (I couldn't have asked for anything more) go see Dr Robey. Period. I recommend him to anyone and everyone. He makes an otherwise scary experience a rather pleasant one.

If you will be operated by Dr. James Robey because you are checked in Emergency Room, make sure you talk with Dr. Robey about his coverage. I was operated by him and now I am chased by his office to cover more than 4k of his service. Be very careful!

My wife has a very rare case on her appendicitis. Her appendix is on the back and thus it took a while for many doctors to identify the probelm. Dr. Robey is the one who figured out the problem and do the surgery. He is very kowledgeable with great patient and bed-side manner. He is the best surgeon we have ever met/heard. Highly recommanded.
