Dr. James Larry Sanders, MD

When I was going to this office, I had originally wanted Dr. Harrison to be my delivery doctor for my first child. Unfortunately when I went into labor, Dr. Harrison was gone on vacation in another state. So guess who I got?? DR. SANDERS!! Long story short, after being in labor for 17 hours, and having my epidural, I had to have an emergency C-Section due to my daughters heart rate dropping. Once they were ready to start, Dr. Sanders went down my legs with a small shocking device asking me if I could feel it.. "Yes I can feel that"! After several times of him repeating the question and repeating the shock... I could still feel it.. and his response was "You cant feel that, its all in your head"! So he proceeded to cut me open, and I cried because I could feel it burning... it burned bad!! My Mother who was in the room with me proceeded to tell him "she can feel that"!! So he told the nurse to give me a little more medication.. finally I didn't feel it. After finishing up, and I went… to recovery. I was so drugged from something they gave me in OR, that I could barely hold my head up.. but the nurse in there with me was so helpful. Thank God she was in the room with me. Dr. Sanders came in and rolled me over to remove the catheter from my back.. I heard a small "POP", then I heard him jokingly telling the nurse "that's only happed one other time in my career." She looked at him stunned.. like wow that's not a joke! HE BROKE THE CATHEDER OFF IN MY SPINE!!!! The next day I had to be seen by a Neurosurgeon, who told me I had a couple choices.. I could have it removed, and take a 50/50 chance on the OR table, or leave it in there. Even if they were successful I run a risk of having muscle Spasms the rest of life. And even if they tried, I could possibly die during surgery. So it was one of those dang if I do, and dang if I dont situations. Here I am 17 years later with the dang thing still in my back, and can hardly walk due to the back pain. I would never refer anyone to Dr. Sanders!!

When I saw Dr. Sanders, I have to say that he did know what he was doing when it came to having a baby. He was very professional and treated the few problems I had accurately. He put in the epidural with no problems at all and very quickly, unlike my other experience with a different doctor. The nurses at the hospital did wait a long time to call him, but I do not think that was his fault. After delivering my baby and talking to him about some hormone problems I thought that I was having he did however, kind of act like I didn't know what I was talking about. Overall though he was a kind doctor and delivered my baby safely and took care of me during my pregnancy.

My experience with Dr.Sanders has been great for 20 some odd years. I trust his judgement.

I find him humorless, staunch, judgmental, opinionated, stubbornly set in his ways,and has a "holier than thou" attitude.Having said that he is an excellent diagnostician.

Terrible bedside manner. Doesn't seem to care about patients at all.
