I saw him once in the office. He was very relaxing. He knew exactly what I was having trouble with, he set up an appointment and Walla. Besides a little stiffness from the insertion site, I am pain-free after nine months of intense pain that would stop you in your tracks. He has been a godsend for me. I found him to be attentive to what I’m saying. I think he has a lot of integrity that people are just missing anymore.

I’ve never made a review before but I’ve also have never been ignored for what I considered two simple requests from a doctor before either after developing a chronic nerve pain, i.e. Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) in the last year. I had simply wanted to get a prescription of Lidiocaine patch (5%) that I could use “as needed” which may not be no more than once every two weeks for my chronic pain. In fact I could get the said patch off the counter but I would have to pay a steep price of $200. My pharmacy said it should take the doctor just a quick phone call to get approval. When I was in the office he indicated it would not be a problem of obtaining 5% Lidiocaine patch. Yet I have put in a couple of calls stating the pharmarcy have not heard from them. Additionally I went to their office around noon and a nicelady at the front desk assured me someone would call me that afternoon since they were all at lunch. However, that call never came. So why can’t a pain management… doctor/nurse/staff return phone calls for a person who has chronic pain?!! He wanted to prescribe the typical anti-seizure medications that neurologist normally prescribed with those with Trigeminal Neuralgia which has to be taken daily and most likely would have taken several months of trial and error to find the right combination of medications. In addition if one is indeed able to find an effective medication, the dosage almost certainly has to be increased over time thereby causing further side effects. Every patient with Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) has to be treated individually because the medication reacts differently to each person which is why some doctors order DNA testing to find out what medicine metabolize well and what doesn’t. I’m on a few TN support groups where I am very familiar with many of the negative and serious side effects to these anti-seizure medication that are to be taken on a daily basis. I told him that since I’m not in constant pain as most with this rare disease, I didn’t want to go with that route until it is absolutely necessary due to the seriousness of the side effects. I just wanted to manage my flare up pains “as needed.” I have for a year been able to keep my pain level down without said medications due to supplements, anti inflammatory diet, laser treatments, etc. Additionally I asked Dr. Scrowcoff should I go the route of the recommended prescription medication, could he order a DNA test or specifically a Pharmacogenetic testing (PGx) or also called DNA Drug Sensitive Testing which would eliminate all the trial and error runs on finding the right combination of medications. In fact many medical centers around the country are using such test on patients to avoid the serious drug side effects along with reducing the time and effort of the trial and error runs. Dr. Scowcroff made the comment that such a test would be helpful but he wasn’t familiar with it. I mentioned he could get his staff to googled it and find such a location and there may be one even locally. In fact It took me only about 5 minutes to google and find Genelex.com which provides such testing and are accredited by the College of American Pathologists. I would have gladly paid out of my pocket for the test. All they would need is a healthcare provider (MD. DO, NP etc) to write a prescription to complete such test. Again this simple request was not time consuming but I guess it would cause one to think outside of the box. This doctor definitely does not have the interest of his patients. Thankfully I’m not having to deal with a high level of pain for now and do have time to find a doctor that has my best interest.

I have been treated by Dr. Scowcroft for about 10 years. He has given me lumbar steroid injections to relieve pain in my low back, buttocks, groin and down my leg. He is thorough, listens carefully and provides clear and concise options for treatments. I am usually pain free within 3-5 days after a single treatment. He treated my wife about 3 months ago for a synovial cyst on her spine at L4-L5. She was pain free in about 10 days after 1 lumbar steroid injection. We think he is a terrific doctor.

My husband had an appointment with Dr. Snowcroft concerning a possible injection for back/hip pain. After a VERY long wait to see him, Dr. Snowcroft kind of rushed into the examining room and talked so fast, mumbling occasionally, that neither my husband nor I were sure just what he said. We hope we don't have to see him again.

From suffering with pain for almost 2 years, unable to walk long distance's, holding my grandbaby after 1 treatment I feel like my old self again. From the caring nurses to the doctor I cant praise them enough! Thank you for giving me my life back! It's been weeks since the procedure and I feel great! On with my life!

Nothing good to say about this man that calls himself "doctor". STAY AWAY! SAVE YOURSELF

He is no pain management doctor. He comes in the room and belittles me then laughs at me. Then he asked who was giving me another med that I was taking and since he was not giving it to me clearly that was none of his business. Then he sends that doctor a email about that med which was none of his business so he will contact another doctor about you if he disagrees with any medication they have given you. He is trying to sell you on an injection and if you do not take it or cannot take it then he does not want to deal with you. He taught me to never tell any doctor what med I am taking. He spent a total of 5 minutes with me and gives me a med that I was prescribed 18 months ago that did not work then so why would it work now? Hr treated me as if I were a senile old woman who knew nothing about my health and that is clearly not the truth. He is a total jerk who is not worth seeing so do not waste your time. He is a self absorbing, arrogant jerk. I had a neurosurgeon who told me… to see KC Bone and Joint as I am no candidate for surgery due to scar tissue so I went there in great pain and I left there and a still in great pain. He does not care if you are in pain plain and simple. Again he is no pain management doctor. He is representing KC Bone & Joint and they need to fix what is broke and he is their broke. He represents them and he is plain and simply a bad doctor who does not care for patient health and their overall quality of life.

I likes Doctor Scowcroft but he only did not explain what he intended to do and he is no talked. You can ask the questions and he or may not answer but I still think him to be a good and caring doctor and this is just how he is, I thik he truly cares for his patient but has an issue in explaining things with the patient which does not mean he does not care because I think he deeply cares for his patients He mentioned something to the staff that he did not mention o me and that was an epidural for me but he never spoke of any epidural to me, Had he planned one without asking me he would have been told that I am anaphylactic and cannot tolerate any epidurals but he did properly order the test but without contacting me so that was a shock but the place was closer to me and that was very kind of him to schedule it closer to my home that where he was and it was appreciated. The only problem I had with him was the fact that I could hardly walk and was in great pain and I an 70 years old and… I do think he should have offered something for pain een if it had been short term as anyone could see how much pain I was in, He only told me to start using my walker but that did not solove the problem. The painh I was having was excruciating at the time as anyone could see but yet he let me walk out without a shot or anything and for that I am perplexed since he is a pain anagement but did nothing for me, yet I would and will go back to me as I think he trulyis a caring physician but just has a slight problem in corresponding with his patient but I would definitely refer him and use him again. I just think he should have observed and cared about the pain I was in at that particular time because it was an excruciating 2 hour ride back home, He is a caring doctor but just has a slight problem in relating to the patient but I still think to be an excellent doctor. I would try using him again but there are no epidurals in the future for me and if he had that planned I do wish he had spoken to me so we could have ruled that one out. I highly suggest him to anyone to see for pain management though. You will have to do most of the talking . Another thing I was disappointed in was the fact that no blood pressure was done on me upon entering his office nor was any stats done and that surprised me, He is a different kind of doctor but I think you would be pleased with him..

The staff at this office (Lee's Summit) do not return messages. I have tried to contact the doctor through his nurse for almost a week, leaving a message every day. Either the nurse hasn' talked to Dr Scowcroft aboit my question or just think my questions are important enough to justify a return call. I also agree with the other comments about Dr Scowcroft not taking time with patients. Always in a rush.

this dr. treats you like a number. i've seen him for years, and he has always rushed me. he does not give you the time to ask necessary ?'s, nor does he satisfactorly answer questions that you manage to squeeze in. he acts as if he can't get away quickly enough to his next appt. { $$, cha ching. } he doesn't take the time necessary to accurately diagnose your condition. his is a shotgun affect, just give another epidural shot and tell you to come back in a couple of weeks.
