This man is best described as completely oppositional. I went in with my elderly parent (it’s a joke that he “specializes” in Geriatrics). From the moment he sat down he began to show he had no interest in actual patient care. All he wanted to do was refill the prescriptions w/o asking anything about how the medications were working or the current state of health. No “How’ve you been doing?” or “Is ‘such and such’ getting better?”. He reacted with irritation when we asked him to go over procedure results that had been sent to him and actually stated that he had limited access to the patient chart. We questioned that and I expressed my surprise several times until he finally, with a heavy sigh, pulled up the document. It was obvious to us that he was frustrated with us at this point (he’d only been in the room two minutes) and instead of just going over the results; he repeated several times “What do you wanna know?” He then claimed there were no photos of the procedure and when… we pressed him about it he showed us his screen with a small photo stating he couldn’t open it. Again, we had to verbalize our skepticism more than once and, lo and behold, the photos magically appeared; he then tried telling us he had to go around through some difficult back channel to access them so they really weren’t in the chart after all. This doctor was openly hostile and didn’t seem to even want to hide his belligerence. It felt like he was doing the job for the paycheck because he didn’t show any empathy. I would kindly ask this doctor to please do the world a favor and get into another line of work, or at least take a serious look at himself and choose to be a decent human being. If anyone could use some time at a vocational retreat, it is this man.
