II James Henry States

I took my 6 year old daughter to Dr. States several years ago after a divorce which caused her much anxiety. I was impressed by a few things. He was caring and asked many thoughtful questions that gave me the sense that he was exceptionally comprehensive in fact-finding before coming to conclusions. He typed on a laptop the entire time (while still keeping good eye contact) making comprehensive and what I found later to be very accurate notes on what exactly was said. This impressed me and re-assured me, because rather than putting his own perspective or meaning on these words AFTER the appointment, (as most clinicians do) he was actually documenting exactly what was said. This helps prevent misinterpretation, and it made for a more thorough, and far more accurate record for the future and for diagnosis. He contacted her father and tried to convince him to come in as well for the benefit of my daughter, and clearly documented that call as well which later helped me in court. His… mind is very quick; I could tell that it was easy for him to draw on a wealth of information he has accumulated in his experiences. He seemed to truly enjoy his field and to have passion for making a difference. I appreciated not only his care in solving some concerns, but also the integrity in which he conducts his practice. I highly recommend him.

I am a very mild mannered person. I had a pretty severe eating dissorder. Dr. States lost his cool with me and we got in a yelling match in his office at EWU.

Dr States helped me through a very painful time while I was a student at EWU in Cheney, WA. Much like another reviewer said it is easy to look up to him as a solid and gentle person who has alot of accomplishments on paper but willingly and openly understands with great compassion that everyone has a different Mt Everest to climb-it can be just getting up in the morning for many of us and starting the journey to happiness.Great thanks to Dr States!

Dr. Jim States was my adolescent medicine doctor 30 years ago. He is one of the very few human beings who I sort of idolize. He did climb Mt. Everest after all. And I mean this literally, not figuratively - look him up under Mt. Everest climbers. He is so modest, he would not tell you this if you did not ask. As a teenager, he invited me on a bike ride with a big group of professional-caliber bikers on a weekend. I was so slow that he would ride up the huge hill then back down then up and back down, til I caught up. He is a very special individual. He is an iron man athlete with a big heart who truly cares for his patients.

He has diagnosed and helped me with my medical problems. He cares greatly about his patients.

Dr States is the best, he knows his stuff. He is kind, listens to his patients, and cares alot for them. Dr States knows eating disorders like the back of his hand. He is direct in what needs to be done. Girls he has alot of experience in this and is very helpful in this area. You, have to want to get well and put enough trust in him and allow him to help you. You won't be sorry you did!!
