The bill always surprises me no matter how many calls I make to them and my insurance ($0 deductible platinum) beforehand. As a patient, prepare to anticipate all the parameters that may cause your out of pocket be drastically different than you think (of course you can't know if this is your first time!)

Dr. Tearse is the best. He explains everything so you can understand. No question is too small. He wants his patients educated as to what is happening with their eyes. Surgical procedures went without any complications due to his expertise.

Cataract surgery: dual focus artificial lenses were suggested by Dr Tearse I later discovered this type of lens was in questionable acceptance by the industry. They failed to provide the anticipated improvement in total vision. When I suggested a replacement with single focus lenses I was told the removal of the dual focus lenses was much more difficult than the original surgery involving removal of the natural lenses. That fact wasn't conveyed to me prior to my making the decision to go with dual focus lenses.

He fixed a style like thing on my eye a year and a half ago. He injected my eyelid with something and it worked the first time. He explained everything. I won't to another ophthalmologist recently because he was closer to me and I wished I went to Dr. Tearse instead.

I have been going to him for 2 years and felt that he was very competent BUT now I am beginning to agree with these other comment. Yes, there are definitely long waits. Lots of tests (repeated) and then pushy about many procedures that seem complicated and EXPENSIVE. I need to have a second opinion before I go back to him. By the way He (he said WE) overcorrected my astigmatism and now says WE have to do lasix (sp?) I thought my last Dr. was pushy - - even OCD, but now what? Has anybody had needles punched along the margins of eyelids, top & bottom) and black & blue for 2 weeks? On the other hand, he was available at night, by phone, after my cataract surgery. I was thinking he was 4 stars at that point. Maybe he is, and I am overreacting.
