Dr. James William Theen, MD

It was approximately 20 years ago (during my first 2 years as a nursing student) when I first saw Dr. Theen. He was and is to this day, one of the most sincere, caring, intelligent Dr.'s I know. My first visit and the following ones for nearly 6 months; he had to endure a sobbing 38 year old nursing student;I had Hashimoto's Burnout Disease (which, Thank God, Dr. Theen had diagnosed) I was trying to balance a family of 6 children & my awesome hubby,I was a full-time nursing student with extreme fatigue, mood swings, panic attacks, lack of concentration...etc.etc. Yet, he never, not ever lost his patience with me; he always encouraged me, telling me it would slowly get better as the thyroid medication got my metabolism, hormones and everything else the thyroid plays a huge part in, back to normal. God love that man! He later had taken some time off and I was understanding, trying to be as compasionate for the time he needed as he had always been with me. 'Gump' happens and he helped me… realize that; 'gump' is only temporary, even though at times, it feels that 'gump' is really: 'GUMP, GUMP, GUMP'....but really, no matter how much gump there is, it is really just a bunch of 'gump'! I haven't seen Dr. Theen for several years as we have moved from the area, but he will always have a special place in my heart and prayers. God be with you, Dr. Theen, and thank you so very much for helping me through one of the most difficult times in my life and for easing my fears and giving me the faith to go on.

Dr. Theen is well-informed, willing to work with me when I want to explore alternative medicine options, takes the time to answer all my many questions, monitors cholesterol, blood sugar, and thyroid, works well with my primary care Dr. He has a very busy practice and it may be difficult to get an initial appointment with him. But once you are an established patient, it is not a problem. When I had a crisis, he worked with my priamry Dr. and together they had a treatment plan in place in 30 minutes!! I recommend him highly!

Dr. Theen is a really great doctor, very thorough. Christian is also really good. I don't have an opinion about Gina, because I've never seen her. Craig, who used to draw blood, is awesome too. My only complaint is the front office secretaries. One is older and always cranky and rude. The other is younger and not the brightest bulb. Very difficult to get the correct information relayed to the doctor if you go through them, it's like playing the little kid game "telephone". If you have to leave a message, ask for Craig, again, he's awesome.
