Dr. James T. Thompson II II, MD

Dr. Thompson is new to the Roanoke Valley but not new to medicine. Given my situation, breast cancer reconstruction, I have found Dr. Thompson to be kind & sincere. He is only 1of 2 who can do the DIEP Flap which I am going to have done. In his office, YOU need to ask the questions. He will give you an answer. He knows his work. I am glad he came here.

I'm giving this doctor one star because zero isn't one of the options....Took our teen son to Dr. Thompson for embarrassing gynecomastia issues (large and feminine male breasts). We thoroughly researched the subject online and decided on Dr. Thompson as he was local and was part of a reputable hospital. During our initial visit, we discussed a plan to augment his chest using liposuction. Our research found that this is the normal procedure for all surgeons. However, during a pre -op visit, Dr. Thompson suddenly changed his plan and encouraged a full double breast removal. We trusted his opinion. The end result can only be described as a TOTAL BUTCHER JOB! Its absolutely unbelievable! He removed both breasts leaving two huge jagged half- inch to three- quarter inch wide scars eight to ten inches long. I cant believe this guy still has his license. I would like to do to him the same thing he did to our son! We consulted an attorney and was told we didn't have a case as we agreed… (trusted his opinion) to the surgery.

Dr. Thompson is very friendly and easy to talk to. He has performed multiple surgeries on our child and his bedside manner was always excellent. Our only complaints are in regard to the waiting time to see him, and the amount of time he spends with us after we are called back to the patient room. We spend an average waiting time of 60 minutes before being called back to the patient room. We spend an additional 20 to 25 minutes waiting for him in the patient room. Once he arrives, his average time spent with us is no more than 10 minutes.
