Dr. James Halsey Towe, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Towe's for many years. Yes, he's always jovial, "in high gear", and moving through an exam at near light speed, but in all the years that I've been seeing him, he's never missed a thing. On my last routine exam as he was putting me through the usual "do this; do that", he suddenly stopped and asked me to let him take a closer look at me. He's spotted a minuscule spot or blemish on my forehead, right at my hairline, that I hadn't even been aware of. He took a closer look and said, "I'm about 99 percent sure sure that's a basil cell carcinoma. Make an appointment with a dermatologist and have it removed as soon as you can". I did as he suggested, and after being examined at the dermatology practice was told that it MIGHT be a Basil cell but they'd have to send it out for analysis. A week or so later they called me and confirmed Dr. Towe's diagnosis. I went in the following week for surgery and later got a clean bill of health. Recently his… practice was taken over by one of the large medical groups and from what I understand, he opted not to join and has gone his own way. If anybody knows where his practice is located now, please post the info here. I don't care how far I have to drive, it's worth it to have him as my doctor.

Dr. Towe breaks the medical fourth wall, making his practice of medicine quirky yes, but personal. And when you're talking your health, you want a doctor who you can be personal with. Clinical detachment is often cold and judgemental. Dr.Towe demonstrated the acumen necessary to distinguish between the relevant and the mere formality, with a dose of humor. Maybe he isn't for everyone; that's fine, he is the doctor for me.

He heals your body as well as your soul!

Dr. Towe is friendly and ebullient. Perhaps too much so: a bit huggy for my tastes and prone to rambling off-topic conversation. More upsetting was, during my last physical, was the fact that he did not touch me: no getting me up on the exam table. Listened to my lungs through my clothing, really minimal exam. Then today I when I saw him, he came in to the exam room with no shoes or socks on. Really?!?!

This so called doctor is a complete quack who makes no sense and rambles on about nonsense the entire time you are in his office. If you are dying and this is the only doctor around you are better off treating yourself and/or dying in peace. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS QUACK
