I went to Dr. Winston for treatment of disabiling social phobia in 2014. I asked for Parnate (an MAOI that's been around since 1960). Despite his three decades of experience, he had to get out a reference book and look up this drug to see that it is indeed indicated for my condition. He had to get out a book again when he needed to look up the proper dosage for Parnate. Seems to me that a highly-experienced psychiatrist should actually know a thing or two about one of the major (though rarely used) classes of antidepressant.

Dr Winston is the most down to earth, caring and knowledgeable doctor in the field of psychiatry. He is an expert in the brain and a doctor to put your full trust into. He has an incredible personality on top of his top knotch skill as the best of the best of psychiatry MDs and truly cares for each and every patient.

Dr. Jim Winston is the most knowledgeable psychiatrist in the field of medicine out there. His in depth understanding and diagnosis of psychiatric conditions, in conjunction with up to date pharmacology puts him at the top of the profession. He will go in depth with you on every concern of your condition. He is easy going and has a great sense of humor.

Dr. Winston was able to make my depression dissipate when two other physicians had failed for four years.Dr.Winston's knowledge of new drug therapies was the difference between depression and a functional and positive life.Highly recommend him for the first consultation or get a second opinion.

Dr. James Winston literally saved my life. Beyond that, he has worked hard to allow me to enjoy life. Dr. Winston is truly compassionate, caring and easy to share your darkest feelings with. He listens carefully, can truly empathize and brings hope to handle your greatest difficulties. In my case, this has included a Cardiologist, Neurologist and extremely capable Internist. These referrals have uncovered both new and collateral issues critical to my… health. Also, as the CEO of American Behavioral Clinics, he has a terrific staff of Therapists with a wide range of multiple specialties for one to work through complex, long term issues of every day life, patterns of thinking, etc. I am 66 years old and have been a patient of Dr. Winston for 13 years. My afflictions have been moderate to very major depression, anxiety and ADD. Realistically in my case, I cannot expect to be wholly “cured” but he has made these things manageable. I feel so blessed to have him in my corner. Additionally, his administrative staff are very caring and genuine.

I was looking to get a fresh perspective on my anxiety issues after many years. I arrived to a dark and depressing office and was called in to see Dr. Winston after about 20 minutes. I met with an assistant of sorts who was getting all of my information/asked me what was going on, etc. She was very nice. After the 20th question and 45 minutes, I was very frustrated to have not yet started my appointment with the doctor. She then went and got him and gave him a debrief on what we had talked about. He then was asking HER questions about me RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME with seemingly no interest in even talking to ME. He then gave me a few generic suggestions and after about 7 minutes he had his hand on the doorknob to leave. I was then charged for a FULL HOUR with HIM!?!?! What kind of scam is this? Obviously, Dr. Winston is trying to get paid for as many "hours" as he can by spending only 10 minutes with people, while his assistants have the actual meetings. I think I said 10 words to him! The… translation was obviously "I don't want to listen to YOU - I have people for that - you tell them your story and then I will get it succinctly from my assistant." I felt like such an idiot. Can this even be legal? Uber-disappointed and frustrated...

I came in with multiple issues including drinking and relationship issues.Dr.Jim Winston soon realized i was self medicating an underlying bipolar disorder with alcohol.. He treated me with lamictal for my racing thoughts and anxiety.I was given campral to decrease my cravings for alcohol. I found myself seeing an individual counselor and aoda therapist to help myself and future relationships.. Dr Winston is extremely professional and didn't make me feel bad about myself. He is very compassionate and caring.. His great reputation in milwaukee is 100 percent accurate.. He has literally saved my life !

First off, he is NORMAL!!! Second, I consider myself the luckiest person to have found a REAL doctor. This is united statdes of america and finding a REAL doctor who won't push meds on you until you absolutely need them (the way is supposed to be) is extremely rare if non existent. Doctor, thanks for your help and your patients are lucky to have chosen you!!

I have been seeing Dr. Jim for 7 years now. We have worked through so many hardships together and he has adjusted my medication as needed and as requested. For several years now I am on a combination of prescriptions that are working wonders for me. Dr. Jim is caring, kind, and courteous to me. He is open to my suggestions and I am open to his. We have a doctor-patient relationship that cannot compare. Sometimes he is a little behind on his appointments, but it's understandable because he is highly requested and sees many patients every day. Dr. Jim is concerned about my wellbeing and proud to see the progress I have made. If I had not started out with such an amazing psychiatrist I don't think I would have made it this far at all! I would recommend him to anyone who is struggling mentally or emotionally.
