Dr. James Sipos Wolf, MD

I am very surprised by the negative comments on here. My experience was great! I felt like Dr Wolf took the time to listen to my concerns and also take into account the various other issues I had that were not related to that specific appointment. I appreciate the time that was taken and did not have a problem with the wait.

My mother has seen Dr. Wolf on four separate occasions for examinations, diagnosis and guidance related to Alzheimer’s disease. I attended all four visits as her caretaker. We both found Dr. Wolf to be a trusted, expert resource. He was very attentive to our needs with a great "bedside manner" in connecting with my mom and discussing difficult issues of dementia. He performed a physical neurological exam, cognitive exams, ordered several MRI/PET style procedures and walked us through results in detail. We were very happy with his services and those of his staff. I was initially concerned by reading several very negative reviews for Dr. Wolf on this site. But after the first visit—even after four visits—I couldn’t imagine having such a negative experience with him. He read material that I emailed ahead, was more punctual than most doctors (5 or 10 minutes after appointment time… I usually expect 15-45 minutes to be the norm), called me several times to discuss some items, and was… generally wonderful to deal with. He did have a tendency to tell personal stories in support of describing life situations. I would prefer this to a doctor who’s just trying to get you out the door as quickly as possible. I was very pleased with Dr. James Wolf and would return to him without question.

Unwilling to honor my insurance even though I was completely upfront about my coverage. Other doctors honored it. Wolf is a very arrogant, condescending man. All I have to say is BEWARE!!!!!

This was an awful experience! I had to wait a long time and then when I went into the exam room my needs were not met. I left there with no diagnosis. He acted as if my problems were not important to him. He told me he had to move to another patient and walked out of my room. Do not go to him if you need medicine or any help!

I was referred to Dr. Wolf by GBMC, ER, and he came highly recommended by my primary physician. His staff members were friendly and helpful. However, he is the exact opposite. I had one bad experience to many and will not use him again. My first visit he was more than 30 mins. late arriving to his office, but I did not count this against him. At the initial consult he collected all the medical records I bought with me. I found it strange that he dismissed diagnosis that I had be dealing with for years. These diagnosis came from 3 other neurologist. He order additional MRI's from the ones I had already had and asked me to return for a nerve conduction study. Upon return his office was not equipped for people with latex allergies (which I am one) Dr. Wolf had to borrow latex free gloves from another practice because he did not have any. During the exam he told me a number of things wrong with me, however would never put them in writing. I had asked him to provide this… information to my other physicians, and he was quite reluctant. I even provided him with documentation from one physician asking him to complete with my diagnosis. I received a phone call from his his front office staff stating that he wanted to charge me $75 to complete the document. I refused and so did he to complete the paper asking for my diagnosis and his signature. Dr. Wolfe wrote me a prescription for a referral and when I tried to make an appointment was rejected because they place where he referred me sated they needed note from him. I called his office multiple times requesting that this be done. The referral office staff called as well. They were told by Dr. Wolf himself that he could not remember why he had referred me. I thought this to be quite strange because he would always take dictation during my appointments. There was also a time when I was hospitalized for 1 week and Dr. Wolf was called in to check on me because I was his patient. When he did finally arrive he never reported to the nurses station that he have visited me. He verbally told me that he was going out of town and that he would notify the neurologist on call of my status. He also told me that he was writing a script for a particular treatment. Later that evening the nurse came in to provide me with my medication and stated that the chart read that Dr. Wolf was to come see me. I had informed her that he did. This is when I found out that he had never informed staff that he was there and that the nurses station had never received his report or the script that he had told me he was providing. My attending doctor and nurses had to contact him by leaving a message and finally the next day I was given the medication I was to be treated with. Dr. Wolf can be very insensitive and rude. When you try to explain symptoms or problems you are experiencing he will quickly dismiss them and tell you that you are wrong. One of the problems that I was experiencing was inflammation in the back of my neck and the inability to turn my head. He quickly dismissed that there was nothing wrong however MRI from the ER showed Degenerative Spine Disease of the cervical spine. If you need a doctor who is sensitive enough to hear your concerns and help to reach a conclusion or diagnosis then Dr. Wolf is not the person for you. If you have plenty of money for repeat visits or can handle a person that wants to provide a diagnosis from their own assumption rather then the facts then he is your guy. -Concerned Patient who now is receiving proper medical care with a different neurologist.

Seeing Dr. Wolf was a horrible experience. I have been seeing neurologists for years due to chronic condition and never been treated this badly. He is very rude and has all of the answers to the questions he would ask about my health. When he didnt like an answer I would give he qoild interrupt and imply I was wrong. He was very closed minded and pompous. He made me feel misunderstood and very judged. His office is far below standard especially for being in GBMC physicians pavilion. If you want to be treated as an individual and not a dollar sign don't go to Dr. Wolf.

One of the few doctors who listened and understood what I was going through. New exactly what was wrong right off. Very caring, takes his time answers any questions with ease and comfort. Thank you so much Dr. Wolf and staff.
