I had severe headaches and pain around and inside my left ear for about 7 nights and 8 days. The ear pain would worsen at night and there was no hope of getting any sleep. I knew something serious was going on and I went to the Physician's Assistant who is my Primary Care Physician. He downplayed the pain and said he'd seen worse. He didn't pay any attention to the pain I was having in and around my left ear. A day or two later, I was stricken with facial disfigurement. I went back to my PCP and he misdiagnosed what I had as Bell's Palsy. I decided to seek another opinion and went to Jamie Bassell, CNP. He gave a correct diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. I got on Valtrex and Prednisone and made a quick recovery in 3 weeks. I'm considering changing to Jamie Bassell as my PCP.
