Dr. Jamuna Dandu Raju, MD

My experience with Dr. Raju herself has been positive, but her staff can be really rude and generally love to guilt-trip people. I understand being annoyed if someone loses their prescription, but they don't have much tolerance for mistakes and it's an incredible struggle to get them to fill prescriptions over the phone. Even if you try to rectify your mistake, they prefer to not accept it and treat you like a child who needs to be scolded (for instance, I once had to cancel an appointment a day in advance, and they wouldn't accept my insistence on paying the full appointment fee to make up for the trouble, instead lecturing me about how much trouble I caused). They'll also get mad at you about things you can't possibly control; one lady made fun of me for not being able to hear well. I don't blame them for being annoyed and don't think they should have to be polite all the time--they're only human and shouldn't have to cater to everyone's feelings--but blaming someone for a legitimate… physical defect they can't control is just crappy. If you don't make any mistakes and are 100% super-polite to them they'll be nice to you, but once they hate you, they hate you.

I visited Doctor Raju while at sagebrush treatment for Xanax, and while I was seeing if I could get a sleeping medication for Post Acute Withdrawal symptoms I was experiencing, she said “Well my only options for you are Xanax and Doxepin” when literally 10 minutes before that I explained to her that I was here for abusing the same drug. In addition to that, she went behind my back and discontinued my prescriptions from my main Psychiatrist. She also prescribed me a medication that with long term use requires a taper in order to prevent severe withdrawal symptoms that include SEIZURES, and as soon as I left sagebrush she did not allow me to have a refill for a taper! Terrible Psychiatrist, would not recommend.

I went to Dr. Raju for about a year. Every visit to her office was a nightmare. She lied about possible side effects of the medications she prescribed me, and spoke in a very condescending way every time I saw her. My concerns were continuously overlooked and ignored, and I was treated as if my opinion (about the medication going in my body!) was idiotic and insignificant. Her staff is extremely rude and completely unfriendly - not great for a place that is supposed to treat those with mental disabilities, such as social anxiety. The receptionist was not only unrelentingly difficult, but disorganized as well, and misscheduled appointments on two separate occasions. Dr. Raju seems to view her patients as nothing more than disposable paychecks, and definitely shouldn't be working in the mental health field, or with people, at all. My appointments there were always dreaded and I will not be returning. Do not go here!

I have seen Dr. Raju for a while. She is out of the office for weeks at time and, if you happen to run out of medication at that time, you are out of luck. She will not call you a prescription. You have to wait until she gets back and see her. I do understand that lack of planning on the patient's part is not her fault but we are talking about people with mental illness here so not everyone is counting their pills and realizing that they will run out when she is out. You don't even know she is out until you call when you see only a week's worth of pills in your tube and realize that you should ask her for a refill. I do understand the cautiousness in wanting to see the patient before prescribing more medication but, when we are talking about someone who has been on the same medication for many many months and who has responded well to it, not agreeing to call the pharmacy to have an emergency refill is not acceptable. The office staff also is not that friendly. It seems like it's a… burden for them to contact the doctor for you or return calls...if they return them at all.

My daughter suffers from anxiety and she was recommended to this doctor by her therapist. I should have read the reviews rather than relied on the referral of her therapist. The lady that I will not even call Dr. was nothing but a disaster. She called my daughter is an addict because she was taking a very common medication for anxiety called Klonopin for .25 as needed! My daughter panicked and put the medication aside which made her have more panic and anxiety attacks and not sleep for 4 days straight and not being to eat! She called the office twice and didn't get a respond and after the 3rd call and went to see her. She said you are definitely an addict, and you should admit yourself to the hospital. You see these are all indications of an addict. AS a mother of a 26 years old who has graduated from one of the top schools in the country, who works very hard and is extremely smart, you my GOOD DR. are a pure idiot. Your patient was scared and kept begging you not to call her an… addict and you kept on gong and going. She was throwing up in your parking lot because of the pressure you put her under. If you had listened to what she was telling you rather than your judgmental idiotic mindset, you could have understood what the issue was. Your patient was scared! She had a panic attack and you made her even more scared. I'm not sure which school you went to or which country was slow enough to give you your degree, but people like who are "in charge" of mental health of others would be evaluated every few months or so because you are in need of help yourself. You are unprofessional, ruthless, reckless and pure stupid. Shame on you for making someone suffer for 2 weeks for your Egoistic issues. I have forwarded your name and information to everyone I could and will do so because people such as yours are danger to the society. You play with people's lives. for onece I heard my child saying do you think I'm going crazy? I said no, that idiot who sits in her office and is the crazy one who can NOT diagnose and differentiate between an anxiety, fear and adiction. Shame on you!

She doesn't care. She also lies to her patients just to get them to take the medication and she does clinical tests on the medications using her patients as guinea pigs. I believe her practice SHOULD be closed.

Everything that everyone else has said about her is true. She is very judgmental. I am 27, and have struggled with ADHD all my life, but I never sought treatment for it because of social stigma, and from my Korean background. I felt like it was my fault because I'm just lazy and that it was just a problem that could be fixed with willpower. Long story short, from the first visit she said I was depressed and prescribed me Celexa (bc I think the drug rep was there and I had just seen them talking), and that made it worse. I stopped caring even more. Then when I finally was tested for ADHD and had evidential support, she still doles out the medication like I'm a criminal. She says that she can't give me a higher dosage from 30 mg (which is quite low) because Aetna my insurance asked her why she was doing that... I don't even have Aetna, I have BCBS. I actually am scared to see her on a monthly basis and dread it. It's like seeing my parents for a psychiatrist. I even told her my fears for… seeking treatment and she said "yea yea I'm from that culture too". She also yelled at me saying I filled out a form incorrectly for National Guard for about 30% of the session's time. She asked me "why did you sign that? That's where I sign!" I had previously sent the same form to my GP and it was filled out correctly, and when I looked at it, it was correctly filled out. The recruiter still hasn't gotten my medical records and that was a few weeks ago. I would stay away from her! Her office staff is also incompetent and rude to match her attitude. I feel sorry for her other patients and I am wondering why people see her when there are so many other options out there.

Dr. Jamuna Raju thinks it is her way or the highway. Stay away. She is judgmental, moody & mean. I wanted to get back on suboxone, as I have been on it before, but I had to switch to something else as I got pregnant & you can't take it if your pregnant. I have come a very long way from what I used to be & i am very proud of myself. I needed help getting back on the suboxone. This was a big step for me, a big step for anyone. Before I could even talk about my concerns, questions & explain my history she made assumptions over & over again. Raju did not let me talk & when I tried she interrupted me. Insinuating that i was a bad person. She told me I was a "big mess", a bad person because I had an addiction problem. Then she said I had to get off my other meds (not provided by dr.Raju) which I have been on for over 7 years. No other suboxne doctor has a problem w/this med. Anyway I still agreed to get off the med but slowly. Not good enough for her. She told me I had major problems & then… she started judging me because I had a child but was not married. Dr. Raju also had the audacity to even say "I know you will be back, you will end up coming back to me either way. It's just a matter of time". I will NEVER go back to her. A waste of time, gas, mileage, and $200. Don't go unless you want to feel like crap and cry and feel like a huge failure. Because that is what Raju will make you out to be. feel like a huge failure.

Dr. Raju is extremely condescending. Instead of trying to work with you, she scolds you for past behavior and doesn't trust anything you say. She flat-out refused to refill a prescription for a medication I had been taking for over a year because she "didn't like it." I ended up going through serious withdrawal because I was forced to quit cold turkey. The office routinely runs over an hour late. It was common for me to get into my 2:00 PM appointment at 3:15 PM or later (of course, she took time to speak to the drug representative who came in for over 15 minutes, while I sat there waiting). If you're looking for someone to treat you like a child and disregard pretty much every concern you have, then by all means, see Dr. Raju. Otherwise, do yourself a huge favor and STAY AWAY!

Very similar experience as "RUN" above. I've some alcohol problems, but no matter what I do now, even before asking any questions, she assumes I am a major alcoholic who needs rehab, although I have been making great progress already, going to AA etc.. She would not prescribe some medications that I have been taking successfully for years because "you drink", but instead gives me some strange meds for which psychiatric uses are off-label, and one of which interacted with my heart meds and made me almost black out. The front office is a mess and could not submit a simple statement to my insurance correctly
