Dr. Jan Brown II, MD

Dr. Brown has provided excellent care to two of my family members on two separate occasions. He was compassionate, kind, prompt and up front about treatment and prognosis. He saved my granddaughters life! I cannot thank him enough.

Nasty, screaming at patients and incompetent!!

Horrific! I can't explain the incompetence, the insensitivity, the arrogance, the lack of empathy of the ER at this hospital. I was shocked at how they treated my father-in-law. Many of my family are in the medical field from nurses to doctors, and I have never experienced? anything like this. When we first got to the ER, we were looking for my father in law who we were told had a bad car accident and was transferred by ambulance to Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. When we found a nurse in the ER, we told her what happened, and she said:? "We don't see any ambulances coming." We told her this is where they are supposed to bring him. She then said,? "He is not here" in a rude way with a smirk. I then walked outside and saw an ambulance, so I walked into the side that the ambulance was and low and behold there was my father in law in the hallway on a gurney. She was wrong. She saw me and said, "What? are you doing in here? How did you get in?" I said I walked in the back to… see my father in law that you said was not here. This was just the beginning. The nurse taking his information "she had lip injections" so maybe this is why she had zero expression on her face, but she was rude as well. The icing on this horrible cake came when we met the Dr. His name is Jan Brown, he has hair styled like Doc from Back in the future? but is 37yrs old. He had the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. He came in and seemed dismissive of the whole thing. He didn't check his medical history, didn't do blood work, didn't check his heart...nothing. Mind you he is 61, has 90% blockage in his heart, and was slurring. A short background as to what happened. My father in law was rear-ended? while he was sitting at a light and the "trunk was in the back seat" according to the police officer who came in later. He went unconscious? and was bleeding from his head. A bystander had to bang on his window to wake him up as his door wouldn't open. Jan Brown then came in after a CT scan (which is the only thing that was done). He came in looked at my father in law and said "BE HEALED!" then continued to use a profane word and say "He never hears me" Mind you, we are a Christian family and just ACTUALLY prayed for my father in law. We asked if he had a concussion to which he responded, "I don't use the word concussion" he then closed the door and explained why he doesn't use the word. We then asked why they didn't check the rest of his body. He spoke about the mechanism of the accident and that the chances of anything being hurt from "neck to nuts" (his words, ?not mine...again UNPROFESSIONAL) I was shocked at that. He was dismissive yet again when asked more questions and seemed annoyed that we questioned him. He then said we were being discharged. The cops finally came after the discharge, and we were told that he was sideswiped along with being rear-ended. Jan Brown didn't wait for this report to come and just dismissed us. We are STILL concerned as my father in law still is talking funny and has head issues, and his cut on his head was NEVER ADDRESSED...not even ointment. He was given pain killers and told to go home. Brown said he sees no reason for him to lose any daily activities and he is fine. However, Brown's boss, who called us after we shared our complaint on the phone, said differently and gave us a full protocol on what to do. We will never use this hospital again. We will dissuade anyone else from using this hospital. Shame on this Doctor and shame on the nurses.

my husband was admitted several weeks ago to doctors hospital, " doc Brown" was his doctor while in e.r.. exceptional doctor, his care and compassion were the best and much needed due to the circumstance, his bed side manner and the way he explained things that you could understand were awesome... he is without a doubt one of the best doctors i have ever encountered.. thank you Doctor Brown

Was seen this morning by Dr. Brown for a minor issue, I could not have been more impressed by his knowledge, bedside manner and overall handling of me as a patient. In very short order I was leaving with 2 prescriptions, and received a follow up call within a few minutes concerning another issue. Its been a few hours and as promised by the Dr. I am feeling better! God Bless Dr. Brown.
