Dr. Jan William Duncan, MD

My father went in for lower back pain and Dr. Duncan suggested that the only solution would be surgery. After a few months of debating, asking questions and research my father put trust in him and proceeded with the surgery. Now, one year later, he has never been the same again. His back pain is worse with the pain shooting down both his legs and both feet. We returned to complain and the doctor showed no compassion nor explained anything. But he had the audacity to suggest a second surgery! Please do not have back surgery with him!!

We wonder if Barbara and Diana's reviews on here are legit, in that they were unaffiliated patients of the office, meaning they had no personal ties to office staff, the Dr., etc? I also wonder why a specific doctor other than Dr. Duncan works(ed) in this office because our experience with this other doctor, directly, was positive. At least one of the office staff speaks in broken English, which is a distraction. Perhaps she is also afraid to lose her job (because she chose to have x number of children to support), so she prefers to align with office policy rather than ethics? However, the review mainly serves to illustrate the offices' lack of empathy, professionalism, and practicality in their policies and follow-through. They took a monetary deposit for medical records and didn't return the deposit upon said return of the medical records. Additionally, this illustrates greed. We also wonder why they partner with Medi-Cal? Is this an automatic way for them to get money because… Medi-Cal has to inherently pay them, rather than a patient with private insurance or cash out of pocket as less of a guarantee; and the office has trouble garnering business? We invite you to private message for evidence, names and a further illustration. Kindness is not a part of this office, other than the experience with the secondary doctor. Why do we need such personalities on our one planet Earth?

You wish all doctors were like him. tells you how it is and gives you your options. I recommend reading his Bio quite impressive. To bad he's not a primary physician.

The staff is very nice, my favorite is Mimi (no longer there) & vanessa (still there) they are very patient & try their best to answer all my questions & concerns, I love the fact that they don't rush me. I have been a patient since 2009, Dr Duncan, performed my back surgey & I was very please with the outcome. Dr Duncan gives you time to decide on what to do after he gives you your options, he does not pressure you to go forth with a surgey, he just tells you what he feels would work better. He is very quiet but will talk when you ask questions. my surgery was done @ white memorial hospital & what I can remember the staff was nice, clean,& carrying. I would recommend Dr Duncan with no hesitation.

We came to Dr. Duncan for my 19 year old problem with scoliosis. She needed surgery and was scared. Dr. Duncan explained the surgery to me and her until we both felt confortable. After the surgery my daughter's thank you note to him was that she finally was able to stand up straight. We were thrilled with him and his caring staff. I would recommend him without reservation.

im a young mother and had a doughter who was born with a dislocated hip, and other orthopedics problems. my daughter was seen by many other doctors, which non of these doctors couldnt help my daughter. and some say that she wouldnt be able to walk in the future. doing research i found DR. DUNCAN was a specialist in Pediatric Orthopedic. i decided to bring my daughter to his office. when i walked in to the office, i can say it was a very proffesional, and neat office. i didnt have to wait for more than 15 minutes. the doctor was so kind enough to helpme with my daughters conditions, and took his time to give me one of the many options of treatment for my daughter. also answered all my questions and concern i needed to know. overall, hes been an angel to my daughters life, and mines as well. because of the treatment render, my daughter is able to walk, but not only walk, but run as well. GOD BLESS DR. DUNCAN!! HE IS THE BEST ORTHOPEDIC PEDIATRIC DOCTOR. I STRONGLY RECOMEND DR. DUNCAN. HE… IS ONE OF THE BEST DOCTORS I HAVE KNOWN.

I found Dr Duncan professional, courteous, and helpful. I was very impressed with his handling of my problem and his treatment. Many of my family and friends have gone to him and were 100% satisfied.

My mom had a spine fracture and this dr was the best he treat my mom as queen.
