She destroyed my kidneys with too much lithium. I am now at GFR 15 in kidney function.

IDr. Poage is an excellent psychiatrist. Right at the first appointment, I felt that she understood me. She is professional and kind. She is knowledgable and always says there are choices of treatment options. I have felt that I am at the best management of my panic and anxiety since seeing her.

Dr. Poage comes across as someone who is there to dole out prescriptions...period. She doesn't particularly listen and even interrupts frequently. Very frustrating considering the situation and why you're there. I have had much better consideration with previous doctors. I definitely would not recommend.

In the nine or so years that I saw Dr. Poage she kept me on agressive pharmacology which did damage my kidneys significantly. I do have validation in my current medical record from my Nephrologist that my kidneys were damaged by lithium which she prescribed to me continuously for years even though I always mentioned to her that I was worried about my kidneys. In fact niine months after seeing her I was told by a public health doctor that my kidneys were damaged and he took me off the lithium immediately and wrote on my laboratory that I needed to see a general practitioner ASAP. In addition she did breach confidentiality by talking to others about me without my consent. That being said I do give her a token of appreciation for stating that I was a "genuine" person. And having dealt with so many "non-genuine" people I do appreciate that comment; however, why the comment even came up bewilders me to this day. I consider myself a psychiatry trauma load survivor now and look back with… serious regret that I continued to see her. My general practitioner told me when I first started seeing her that the heavy combination of medicines would cause damage. Before seeing her I had been treated with compassion by the public healthcare system on simply one small pill. I regret that I was receiving full insurance coverage from my job and thought ignorantly that seeing a private physician would be better than receiving public healthcare in Texas when in fact I was wrong. I will note also that her care relative to the psychiatric care that I have received in Washington State was far superior. Judge for yourself it could be tremendously worse; however take extreme precaution to make sure you keep a binder of all of your laboratory reports and watch your levels yourself and note any changes from lab to lab as she was not competent in doing so in my case. I was having my labs reported to her every three months for years. I will also note that these comment sections will NOT display if the comment is particularly negative. I have tried repeatedly to post this information to the benefit of other patients and all of my other attempts have been denied. Good luck to you and the best option is to read up on MK Ultra. The University of Texas and Texas Research Institute of Mental Sciences has to get their data from somewhere. And they will always massage the data to sell drugs. You can find it on Wikpedia.

I have nothing but good things to say! This doctor spent time with to assess and ascertain what my issue was. There is, of course, medication involved, but I believe she has handled my medications very well. I highly recommend her.

Needed a good Physician for my family. Dr Poage was very flexible with our independent schedules. Was accurate and thorough with her evaluations as well as her prescriptions.

I have seen Dr. Poage several times over the past several years. Although appointments are brief and geared toward medication management, she is accessible, professional and caring. With her help - and additional psychotherapy - we were able to find a diagnosis that fit and medicine that worked.
