Dr. Someswaranthan's personal opinion of care for our ailing family member is to leave them in a hospital bed with no other treatment for their chronic illness. He guilt tripped our family when we said we wanted resuscitation, telling us that he'd have to break their ribs and shock them in order to resuscitate them. We were repeatedly shamed, frightened, disparaged, and talked down to for our decisions and our opinions. When we wanted to seek treatment we were told that we shouldn't bother because they wouldn't get better. He continuously disrespected our family and our ailing loved one by making unnecessary remarks about their condition. His prognosis of our family member was also incorrect. Dr. Someswaranthan stated multiple times that our family member had little to no cognitive ability and 0 awareness of themselves or their surroundings. Even though said family member is able to write down cohesive thoughts and differentiate between us, themself, and other people. If you value your… loved ones health, take them elsewhere.

Dr, Soma has a tendency to treat the symptoms, not the patient. He reaches a decision point that if you are 'old' and have a chronic illness, you are just better left to die and not live to suffer anymore. He seems to give up on the elderly especially during the pandemic. He changes the model for meds therefore changes the outcome. He is a strong advocate of DNR and will use his medical knowledge to convince you to DNR even though you do not want to and you want to try every single method to keep your loved one alive and stable.

Dr Someswaranthan is one of the doctors overseeing seeing patient care at Penacook Hospital. The day of my family members death he refused to expedite administering anti-anxiety medication to ease his suffering. This medication was repeatedly requested by hospice to ease the extreme distress and fear of our elderly family member. He would not allow medication in the nursing home’s emergency supply be given and instead insisted that we wait for a pharmacy delivery causing a delay of over 4 hours. This was the longest 4 hours of our lives. He instead insisted giving just morphine would reduce the suffering. This was not true. Once the needed medication did finally arrive our family member was able to die in peace. Such an uncaring man should not be allowed to care for the elderly or any defenseless person. If you love your family member do not use this doctor.
