Jane E. Ligums, DMD, FAGD
Dr. Ligums was born in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1973, she received a BA in psychology from Goucher College in Towson, Maryland. She earned her D.M.D. at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1984, and then completed a general practice residency at the VA Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1985.
After her residency, Dr. Ligums joined Rhode Island Hospital as a full-time instructor and dental surgeon in general dentistry. She became the director of the Dental Service and of the Special Needs Dental Care Clinic and also co-director of the general practice residency program.
Dr. Ligums then joined Johns Hopkins Hospital where she was full-time instructor and dental surgeon in general dentistry, as well as a member of the Craniofacial and Cleft Palate, Hemophiliac and Neck Tumor Board teams.
She moved to New Jersey and, in 2001, joined Dr. Meleo in his family oriented dental practice. Dr. Ligums is proud of being a fellow of the …Academy of General Dentistry. She is actively pursuing her Master's in the AGD, proof of her educational quest to be the best she can be in her field.
Dr. Ligums says that her background as a forensic dentist and cleft palate team member were extremely interesting and valuable. She also believes that her hospital experience, particularly as the director of the Special Needs Clinic, has proven invaluable in developing a sensitivity to those patients who require additional attention and understanding. Her greatest pleasure in dentistry is in providing excellent, quality care to patients who value her commitment to their oral health.
Dr. Ligums plans to make her inaugural trip to Hearts for Honduras grammar school as a team volunteer dentist in the spring of 2011.
Both Dr. Meleo & Dr. Ligums believe in giving back to the community and to the world we live in at large. Helping others through their aquired skills is their way of thanking God for all that they have achieved and never taking anything for granted.
