Dr. Janelle Maureen Applewhaite, MD

Firstly I had to wait 30 minutes for my appointment with no apology or explanation. Then she offered dangerous and negligent clinical advice “just go off of your antidepressant (cold turkey, from a therapeutic dose) while you wait for a psychiatrist appointment” when I asked for an alternative medication that was not contraindicated with my immunotherapy medication. She also tried to hand me off to a different doctor mid-physical as her tone became more passive aggressive and condescending. She proceeded to note in my file that I was “hostile.” Is this how providers characterize self advocacy now? Or only the rude and incompetent ones?

My son went to see Dr. Applewhaite for consultation because his blood pressure was elevated and she realized my son was not taking his health issues seriously so she texted me through my son's cell phone which I was not able to see at once because I was at work. This made me feel that she is concerned on my son's well being and health and I knew from there that she cares for her patients. We need more healthcare providers like Dr. Applewhaite.
