She made my children's tonsil removal an experience that they didn't fear.

I would NOT recommend Dr. Engel. To tell the truth, she seemed like a nut. I was not confident in her intelligence, nor was I pleased with her communication skills. Like another reviewer commented, she repeatedly said, "You know what I mean," or, "You know how it is, mom." All went well, but I was so worried something would go wrong because the whole time I was NOT confident in her. She may have been a really good doctor twenty years ago.

She diagnosed a problem that three other doctors missed!

We were very nervous about our 3 year-old having tubes, but Dr. Engel put us at ease and was completely professional. We love her and our daughter loves her! We highly recommend her and are very happy to have found her!

I was referred to her by my primary doctor because I am having problems hearing. I was in the office for a total of 4 hours. I saw the doctor a total of 20 mins in that whole 4 hours.

This is long, I know... but if you're considering her read this!I was not referred to Dr. Engel by anyone, just found her in my insurance list of acceptable doctors I could see. I was seen by her 3-4 times if you count surgery, the first visit she actually answered her cell phone in the middle of my appointment - it was a call from her credit card company, she was complaining to them about not being aware of a payment that was due and did not feel it was right they charged her late fees and marked her credit (at least, this is what I got from hearing her side of what was being said). She was on the phone for maybe 5 minutes and then apologized to me saying "well, you know how it is" - she side that a lot when I saw her, that or "you know what I mean" - NO, I am not a doctor, I actually do not understand everything that you are saying. I should have taken her answering the phone (unprofessional) in the middle of my appointment and not being very personable with me as a sign to NOT let… her do my surgery and to find a different practice. My pre-op appointment left me feeling rushed and I wasn't able to ask questions or get answers, I was just told "you know what I mean"... I was not satisified with the fact that I was being rushed before surgery, I should've been given a good amount of appointment time to ask questions. Surgery day had complications and a 30 - 45 minute surgery (according to her) turned into an hour and a half. The doctor left before I woke up afterwards and I had doctors that I didn't know telling me what had happened to me and checking on me to see how I was feeling (I had coughed while she removed the intubator causing bleeding... blood filled my lungs and they had to suction it out so I would not drown) - I was her last surgery, I feel she should have been the one to tell me and check on me, not like she had to go perform anymore surgeries and she had no appointments (they only perform surgery on surgery days, don't see anyone else unless emergency)... a week after surgery a scab fell off and caused bleeding... the blood was literally pouring out of my mouth so I immediately called them to see if I go to emergency or them (after 5 minutes blood had slowed down, I was driving to emergency but called once it slowed) and they told me they'd talk to her and to wait. I went home (was on way to work) and sat there for an hour before they called to say come in at the end of her last surgery (about 30 minutes) (this was a surgery day for her, so she was in surgery when I called)... I got there and she came to see me, said she's seen worse (not even acknowledging the fact that it scared the living life out of me that I thought I could bleed to death!) and re-cauterized my throat then once again rushed me out because she was supposed to be out of surgery "20 minutes ago and I'd like to go home" - I just did not like the way she treated me at all. She's definitely doing her job for the money, not because she genuinely cares about children or adults. She did not answer any of my questions, rushed me and made me feel like I was bothering her and a huge inconvenience in her day. I would not suggest her to ANYONE. If you are set at going to the office she works at SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR. I never even went back for my follow-up which was supposed to be schedule 4 - 6 weeks after surgery... and I never received a call asking how I was or to schedule the appointment even. You'd think after surgery they'd be sure an appointment was scheduled, especially a surgery that had complications. Oh well, I could have called to schedule it but didn't want to be seen by her at all again!!

My 4.5 yr old son has been seeing Dr. Engel since he was just over a year old. Dr. Engel is one of the best, most professional, and caring doctors I have worked with. She has a wonderful bedside manner and works well with both children and their parents. The problem with working with Dr. Engel is her office staff. We have had ongoing problems with them for the last 3.5 years. There have been at least 2 instances where the front desk failed to let the back office know we were there, and left my toddler and me sitting in the waiting room for 1.5 hours or more. The last time we visited, they had moved offices across town (about 15 minutes), failed to notify us that they were in a new building, and when we finally found them, would not see my son because he didn't have an updated insurance card on file. They would not take the group number and id from me and making a phone call to United Health to verify (she said "that's not my job!" - hmmm... isn't that what they are paid to do… -verify insurance???) - I ended up having to call his pediatrician's office to have their copy faxed over - a charge of $8 - and they made us wait 2 hours to see the doctor. All for an annual follow-up. The front office staff does not exhibit professional behavior, instead they seem to be set on exercising power over the people who pay their salaries. The bottom line is that if Dr. Engel were not as wonderful as she is, and worth the extreme hassle, I would never set foot there again. However, we will go back because I trust her knowledge, experience, and history with my son.

We had an appointment with Dr. Engel at the end of May. She determined that my son needed tubes quickly. She said the scheduler would call within 5 days and the surgery would be in 2 weeks. Ten days passed and we did not hear from anyone. We called and the scheduler apologized for dropping the ball. Then she informed us that Dr. Engel was leaving on vacation for a month and could do the surgery when she returned. Instead of my son getting tubes in 2 week we're looking at 7-9 weeks. If we wait that long need to pay for another doctor visit with our primary, antibiotic prescription; not to mention our son being uncomfortable and irritable. The office would only move us to another surgeon if we made another appointment and paid for another visit. They have terrible customer service and this is not the right way to treat patients.

I felt I was 'just another patient' being rushed through. I did not enjoy my visit with this doctor at all.

Been seeing Dr Engel for 25years. Always helpful and courteous. My issues have not been interfering w/ my life.
