Janelle Nicole Ramcharan, DO

Janelle Ramcharan, DO, specializes in family medicine. While she has a special interest in pediatrics and in women’s health, she enjoys caring for full spectrum of ages from newborns to the elderly. Dr. Ramcharan understands how family dynamics can shape each person’s health journey and she enjoys working with families to improve their overall health.

How long have you worked in your field?
I completed my family medicine residency in 2025.

Describe your clinical specialties.
I am interested in pediatrics and women’s health, but love seeing all ages and variety of patients. I love to perform various procedures. I love family medicine due to the focus on the family and the ability to see the full spectrum of ages from newborns to the elderly.

What is your patient care philosophy?
I look at the patient as a whole, as many factors play into each person’s health. The ability to care for a whole family …helps me to see family dynamics, which can also play into patients’ health.

What would you like people to know about you as a provider?
I have always wanted to be a physician, and I’m very passionate about what I do.

What do you enjoy most about working with patients?
I enjoy getting to know my patients’ stories and building relationships and rapport, since I see them on an ongoing basis.

How does your work improve lives?
By being able to help patients meet their health goals and build healthier lives to improve their overall quality of life.

What are some interesting facts about you?
I like to paint, bake, cook, try new foods, read, travel and explore, and hang out with family and friends.

With which community and volunteer organizations are you involved?
As I will be new to Central Florida, I will be eager to get to know the community and find out how to be involved and volunteer.

Would you like to share about your family?
I have 2 amazing parents, a brother and a beautiful niece, as well as many cousins both here in Florida and in Jamaica. Both my parents grew up in Jamaica, and both their families had come from India. (Fun fact: on the same ship!)

What (positive) childhood memory do you have about visiting the doctor?
Since I knew I wanted to be doctor from an early age, it was exciting being able to go to the doctor and experience it from the patient side, and seeing what to look forward to when I was able to reach that goal myself.

What else would you like to share with our readers?
I grew up in South Florida, and did all of my schooling (undergrad and medical school) in South Florida as well. My first time leaving the state was when I did my residency in Michigan, at University of Michigan Health-West. I’m excited to be back in Florida, and to get a chance to explore and get to know a new part of Florida.
