Dr. Janet Abrams, MD

All the negative comments you read about this doctor is true. Doctors are supposed to make you feel safe in their presence, especially a doctor who you have to be extra vulnerable in front of because you have to literally take your pants off for her. She is not aware of the way she carries herself. She is not tactful in with her words. She is not warm, understanding or professional. She will judge you based on what you are there for and she will judge you based on your answers to her questions, even when you are trying to be honest because it's always better to be honest with your doctor. If you want a caring doctor who won't make you feel bad or be rough with you because she's already in a bad mood, don't see this doctor.

This was the most disappointing & traumatic GYN visit that I have ever experienced. I want to make it very clear that the staff at Mount Sinai Doctors & the doctors personal nurse Delvin are completely excluded from the following criticism. If anything, I find it so unfortunate that they are apart of a team with a leader like Dr. Abrams. I made this appointment to follow up on some serious news I received about test results regarding an STI. This is my first experience with something so scary & unknown to me. When I arrived to the office of Mount Sinai Doctors. I was greeted cheerfully by the front-desk staff & my wait time was minimal. When Nurse Delvin took my vitals - her demeanor and attitude were kind, receptive & open. I felt heard and understood. She assured me that Dr. Abrams would take good care of me-her attitude prompted me to feel more relaxed & that I was in fact a safe space. However, this good start to my appointment, did not prepare me for the horrible… interaction that was about to ensue with Dr. Abrams. When Dr. Abrams walked into the room and began speaking with me I noticed the negative change in the quality of communication immediately. She was very dismissive upon speaking to me about my STI. She made it very clear that she disapproved of my personal choice to have unprotected sex with my boyfriend. In my world & in my opinion - this is a personal choice that does not need to be criticized or cast judgment upon by my GYN. Anyway, I told her that although I took the required prescription for treatment of this STI. I still was not feeling well at all & I was looking forward to being examined as to assuage my fears about this condition potentially being worse than we initially thought bc of my current discomfort. The whole room was set up for me to be examined. Yet I was not examined, I was reprimanded with negative words & told that I should come back in 3 weeks to be examined because I received the treatment already. The way that this information was delivered - the tone, the attitude, the demeanor, the crossed arms - I would never recommend this doctor to anyone - even my worst enemy. No one deserves to be hurt when they are vulnerable and seeking care. At this point in the appointment, I not only felt completely unsafe in Dr. Abrams presence. I subsequently had to leave the exam room & then the building in tears. I will definitely be searching for a new GYN...

She was very harsh to my wife .

I arrived at her office for a routine exam. She was very cold and moody towards me. I simply asked her if I should follow up with my primary care physician and she said to me that I can leave now if my opinion is not good enough. Please avoid this poor experience and choose another practitioner. Clindy

While I didn't see Dr. Abrams directly, I had an appointment "with her" via New York Medicine Doctors. I was seen by an assistant. And I must say, if you value your health and professionalism in your medical providers, never go to this practice. I had multiple tests done over 7 days ago regarding an abnormal and chronic condition, and 7 days later I'm still fighting to get the test results disclosed to me-- the patient. Both I and my other doctors have called to request medical records and return calls, and it took SEVEN days to even get a response. This response, however, did not include a written copy of the test results and imaging reports as requested by me and numerous other MDs. The response came via text message from the "office manager" who didn't even identify him/her self by name, who proceeded to make false claims that I "had been contacted" over the week, claims that are clearly dis-proven by the wonder of phone records. Despite my doctor having provided a fax number… personally over the phone, the the practice still hasn't sent the records- it seems they have lost the fax #. (The excuse given was "it's a big office.") Their online system where patients can theoretically see their test results is also non-functional, an error the office manager refused to even acknowledge, let alone fix. I come from a family of medical professionals and am beyond horrified with the negligence displayed by this practice. Their disorganization and attitude significantly impacts their patients' health, and they should not be in practice. Run far away and find a reputable medical establishment.

The best gynecologist I have ever had . please dont believe in negative reviews . I wish all my doctors would be so nice , caring and knowledgeable like Dr Abrams .

Professional and smart . Diagnosed my problem and treated me in 2 visits and I am free if my symptoms which bothered me for almost a year . Thank you Dr Abrams

She is rude and only cares about the money. Do not waste your time. I am surprised that NYU has hired such an un-professional Doctor like her. I will never again return to Joan H. Tisch Center for Womenâ??s Health because of her.

I herself is a doctor from Ukraine.I am 76 year old.It was executed now evently 10 years,as I fly to Dr.Abrams.Though I live far from Quins Columbus Medical(Coney Island Brooklyn)I continue to go to treatment only to Dr.Abrams,because I wish her the most erudite and easygoing doctor from all doctors at whom I was treated.I want to express her my gratefulness for high professional treatment blending with sensitive,easygoing attitude.It is not only my opinion.I expecting reception communicate with other patients.And all of them are very satisfied with her as a doctor and as a very good person.And I advice all my friends to have a treatment with Dr.Abrams.I thank her very much for her precious labour .I wish her further successes and health.

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Abrams because she is in the highly regarded NYU network, which accepts my insurance, but also because she is locatred just blocks from my office, meaning that I could go around "lunchtime" and not have to use sick leave. When I called for an appointment, she was booked solid for approximately 8 weeks. Because my visit was merely routine, I didn't mind waiting. However, late in the day the day before my visit, I received a voice mail message from her office telling me that she "has to cancel the appointment" and i would need to reschedule. The message was rushed, nearly indecipherable, and did not include so much as an apology. Will not reschedule.
