Dr. Janet Patricia Mcgivern, MD

I am very disappointed. She is completely uncaring and didn't even seem to know standard treatments (the ones from the National Institute of Mental Health). Total disregard for my suffering.

Dr. McGivern was able to accurately identify my real condition and that I had been misdiagnosed for years. She is especially good at women's psychiatric health and knows so much about the interactions of hormones with mental and emotional wellness. She has a lot of experienced with diagnosis and drug therapy--a real wealth of knowledge. I trust thoroughly trust her judgement and am so glad I found her! She will soon be out of network for me, but I'm willing to pay extra just to keep seeing her. She gave me a lot of time on the intake. Follow-up appointments are quick, but still effective. She is also very supportive and encouraging about verbal therapy and is willing to work hand-in-hand with your therapist, which is SO helpful.

Dr. M has zero bedside manner and treats you more like a thing than an actual person. She seems uninterested in helping you with your problem but getting you in and out as quickly as possible.

Dr. McGivern was quick to form opinions and pushed medications that I told her I did not feel comfortable taking. In my experience, she does not seem interested in her patients' concerns and treats them more like a number.

I have found Dr. Magivern to be very helpful, caring and compassionate. she listens to me has answers the the hard questions I need answers to and not just write a script for me. She is ver helpful, caring and compassionate . she always has something for you to think about when she walks you to the door.....

Dr. McGivern is reasonably qualified and friendly but cold. She is very quick to form opinions based on little information and suggest meds but does not do very well listening to patients or explaining her decisions. She diagnosed me with a disorder which I do not have and only found out about later through my therapist. She also accused me of being there just for "hits" of a medication after I had asked for other options to help manage my anxiety.

I found Dr. McGivern to be very caring and attentive (listening) to my issues....so many Drs hear but they dont listen what you are saying. I felt she cared & was trying to help me. And her staff was awesome! I talked with a therapist in Dr McGovern's office and so would like to talk to her again.

Dr McGivern is amazing - She literally saved my life. She is caring, knowledgable and patient. She is persistant in finding the right combination of meds if they are needed. I am so confident in her ability I have recommended her to a few friends and family members who have had very similar experiences.

She explained everything clearly and compassionately. When needed, she returned my calls within minutes. She may come across as a little too self-confident, but is humble enough to really listen to me. Was able to get a next day appointment when needed. She respects my decisions about my treatment, even when I chose another route. She is not perfect, but who is?! :^)
