Dr. Janice Hartman

I've enjoyed being a patient of Dr. Janice Hartman for a long time. She is knowledgeable, thorough, patient, and listens to the patient to come up with the right treatment. I highly recommend her, but she may not be taking new patients.

Wonderful Dr moved to Fremont co because I knew I had a great Dr than she left she save my life in 2011 .

During an annual physical, covered under my plan's preventative care coverage, Dr. Hartman refused to listen to recent and mostly minimal ailments. She interrupted me when I mentioned that my partner is out of work, and we cannot afford surprise healthcare bills, and thus I needed my visit coded under preventative care (what my healthcare plan advised me to tell her, verbatim). My ask was that she listen and advise whether I should see a specialist or schedule a visit with her in which I'd need to pay a copay, which I'd be happy to pay for as needed. However, she advised that in order for her to listen to my recent healthcare status, she would have to bill me for a chronic care visit today. She noted she was unable to provide any cost estimates - those are handled by her corporate office that's located at another facility, 5 or more people review coding and it's out of her hands, and there was no way to provide any cost information. She began calling me "hun" in an incredibly… condescending way; I politely asked her not to, and her response was that she is 35 years my senior and is due respect to call people the names she deems fit. At various points during the appointment, she ridiculed me for bringing in a list of conditions and expecting to receive "free healthcare," although my health plan costs in excess of $300 per month. My only ask was that I be given direction on how to attain anticipated cost information so I could plan accordingly (within my budget) to attain care. She laughed at me, covered her face with her hands, mocked me for not moving forward with care today, and overall made me feel very uncomfortable. I expressed my disappointment that the care she was offering today provided so little value when I have small ailments that are likely minor, but a source of stress. She told me she was uncomfortable and asked to cancel the appointment several times; I told her we've gotten through the cost issues, and I'd like to continue with the service as scheduled, that I'd accepted the limitations and didn't question her authority or accuracy, apologized for flagging what I feel were reasonable complaints, and told her I'd do what I could to make her feel comfortable. Later, when I mentioned my discomfort with the inadequacy and lack of professionalism during my care visit, she again tried to cancel the appointment without any understanding. I highly advise not seeking care with Dr. Hartman as she embodies everything that is wrong with the healthcare system.
