Dr. Janice Kay Mcgovney, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. McGovney for about fifteen years. We have never exchanged a cross word. She has always been easy to know and talk to, as have I. When Meritas took over, everything changed. Their patient load decreased noticeably, and at least one physician departed. Patients are treated disrespectfully now. The wait time/s have increased to 20 to 40 minutes, even though there are fewer patients waiting. The nurses go into the back and don't return for long periods of time. They make excuses for their absence, but the receptionist has let it slip more than once that they are difficult to locate. Also, phone calls are not returned promptly, and the pharmacy has difficulty getting a reply to renew a prescription. The "head nurse," Mandy, is rude, impatient and makes up remarks that were never made in order to justify her attitude, her procrastination and her behavior. Last Fall, I read several articles about a flu shot for seniors that patients should request. When I did… so, three separate times, they informed me that they would not be offering that inoculation. I called Meritas to inquire and was told that must be a mistake or that I had misunderstood. Once I assured them that my info was accurate, they hesitantly said it was up to that clinic to make its own decisions. So, longer wait times; difficulty getting prescriptions renewed promptly; reluctance to provide recommended senior flu inoculation; rude, defensive nurse. She and I had a serious confrontation last week because my prescription was "lost in the shuffle." She had always blamed my pharmacy, but when I changed pharmacies, the problems continued and even escalated. Now, I have received a Registered letter to say that Dr. McGovney no longer wishes to treat me, and the reason given is "failure to develop or maintain a cohesive physician-patient relationship." After fifteen years. Even though Dr. McGovney was not even involved in this situation. Even though she and I have shared nothing but a cordial and professional relationship all these years. When I talked to Meritas about the senior flu thing, they advised me to speak to the office manager and I declined. I told them I very much feared that there would be retaliation. Obviously, I was correct. Meritas appears to be taking over many of these clinics. Their policies will not bring them success unless they remember that they are in a vital customer service business, and patients deserve to be treated much better. I am shocked by this outcome, and hope that eventually I will be able to speak to Dr. McGovney personally.

If you go here you will never get your refills on time. Then if you ask for them early because you know it takes 1-2 weeks to get it, they get mad at you. Just an overall lousy experience. Office manager was nice but the refill nurse is awful.

I ave never had a doctor I like so well. I had multiple minor health issues on my first appointment since it had been several years since I had seen a doctor, and she addressed every one of them. She ordered tests and followed through on each of them until each issue was resolved.

The time she spends with me on follow-up appts is usually pretty short because I'm always better. When I see her for a new ailment however, she listens, asks questions and is very expeditious in getting medicine ordered and scripts filled - a major convenience for me! I always arrive early to appts but I don't have to wait over 5 minutes from my appointed time. My wait in the exam room is maybe 5-10 minutes. I like Dr. McGovney - she's a woman, she understands and relates to how I feel - something I haven't always found to be true with men doctors.

Terrible experience all together. She did not listen at all to what I was asking her and just was in a rush to get in and out of the office. I also had to wait a ludicrous amount of time to get into to see her in the waiting room and then had to wait a ridiculous amount of time after for her to actually come in after I went back to her the patient room.
