Dr. Janice Gita Rothschild, MD

Dr. Rothschild left a known positive lymph node during surgery when the primary focus of the surgery was to remove a tumor and the positive node. I had to have a second surgery at Brigham and Women's to remove what ended up being two positive nodes. I was told that had I not received a second opinion and left that node, I likely would have had a cancer recurrence. The Department of Medicine also verified that this was very problematic and both the MGH and Dana Farber team said that they had never in their career seen this happen before. Dr. Rothschild made a major error on what should have been a very standard surgery in her practice. Had I not received a second opinion I feel that I might not be here today. The entire experience was very uncomfortable and unorganized. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SURGEON!

Dr. Rothschild is very straightforward, she cuts right to the chase by telling you what you need to hear-she doesn’t sugar-coat anything. I had DCIS, a form of early stage breast cancer, she had to go in twice to remove it. At the time, I was scared to death. In the end it was the right thing to do, as she found more DCIS the second time—she’s a knowledgeable surgeon who wants only the best for her patients.
