Dr. Jared Chesley Martin, MD

Dr. Martin is truly amazing! He came highly recommended to me as a vbac supportive doctor, and that couldn't have been more true! He was so empathetic and supportive during my 2nd miscarriage. Then when I got pregnant again, he was so supportive all throughout my pregnancy. I felt heard and validated, and truly cared for. During labor and the birth, he was so supportive and patient with me and the long process of induction. I knew he prioritized me and my baby's safety, but I also knew he prioritized my goal of a vaginal birth. Not only did I feel supported in trying for a vbac, but I really felt that he wanted it for me too. Dr. Martin was a vital part of my birth team. He supported me perfectly throughout a high risk pregnancy and a long, med free vbac. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great OB!

I had surgery the day after Christmas to repair an issue that I’ve dealt with for 3 years. Prior to my pre-op appointment I did not know Dr. Martin. He was a physician who specialized in what I needed and took my insurance so I went on faith and prayer that he was a good fit. He was very informative in my pre-op appointment and had a confidence that put my mind at ease. This was my first surgery ever and I’m kind of a worrier so I needed that reassurance. Surgery went amazing. The evening of surgery he checked on me before going home and told me everything went well (which he had already told my husband) but having him take the time to come talk to me when I was a little more awake meant a ton. Then first thing the next morning he came to the hospital to check on me again. I realize this is probably common but his genuine smile and care made it feel like so much more than common practice. Then fast forward to 4 weeks post op, I become worried that something wasn’t right. I make an… appointment and he quickly assured me that the surgery did not fail but not without addressing my every concern about what had created the worry in the first place. He didn’t dismiss the fact that I felt that something was wrong and went to great lengths to help me comprehend how the concerns I was having were not what I thought they were. He spent a good amount of his time at the end of his day to make sure I was at peace before leaving his exam room. I can only imagine how it would feel to have a patient question whether or not the surgery he performed worked but not once did he make me feel bad for jumping to such a conclusion, he just went about intelligently and supportively explaining what was really going on and helped me not to worry about it! Thank you Dr. Martin for your patience and your expertise. It truly put this worriers mind at peace.

I was planning an out of hospital birth at a birth center but with some complications during labor I had to be transferred to Davis Hospital and Dr Martin was the on call doctor. He was absolutely incredible. I went in there thinking he would treat me like I was crazy for having an out of hospital birth. But he was so respectful and personable. He even worked very closely with my midwife (acting as a doula at this point) asking her opinion and giving her permission to deliver if he couldnt be in the room at the time. Not very many OBs have that much respect for midwives. Also he was very on board with my wishes for a natural birth. After the birth he checked on me frequently and had real conversations with me. He was absolutely incredible and I couldn't have asked for a better doctor! He has gained a patient for life!

Impressed with this doctor! Office staff, not so much.
