I guess you can only give a positive review. Twice my review has been rejected.

So grateful I was referred to Dr. Ahuero! I have been under his care for years concerning numerous ankle problems and surgeries, including a total ankle replacement, resulting from a badly broken ankle in 2015. He is an excellent surgeon who has always been so thorough and meticulous in my pre and post op care that I never have had a hint of a problem after surgery. He oversaw my PT and made sure I had all aids/supplies/help I needed during my non weight bearing weeks post op. Dr. Ahuero is flawless in being caring, helpful, and sympathetic. His bedside manner is wonderful and he never acts like he is in a hurry or rushing my appointment like most doctors seem to do. He always listens patiently to every question and concern, responding with understandable and knowledgeable answers. I also love his staff, particularly his MA Nhi and PA Jacqueline, who are always friendly and helpful! I can’t say enough about how great Dr. Ahuero is and how thankful I am to be under his… excellent care!

He stuck with me during a difficult recovery and ultimately I had a great outcome. I appreciate his knowledge and skill, as well as his integrity and good nature. I have a great deal of respect and trust for him and highly recommend him to others seeking the best care for ankle and foot issues.

I went to him for a growth between the first two toes, which made that part of my foot numb, and a tiny tailor’s bunion. During the exam, I specifically told him NOT to shorten the 2nd toe. After surgery, I have extreme pain in both the big toe and little toe metatarsals, as well as the 2nd toe where he took it upon himself to shorten that toe and screw it into a permanently twisted position so that I walk on the corner of the nail. His response at our final appointment was a shrug. I have since seen another specialist, who told me, after an MRI (which Ahuero never did) that the situation is permanent. She did, at least, recommend some strategically placed padding on the little toe so I can walk a little less painfully. Ahuero clearly didn’t care that he’d created life-long pain in my foot. His shrug said it all.

He said all the right things, but turned out he did not listen to me. Or do a good job at what he was supposed to do. I specifically told him I did not want my extra-long 2nd shortened. I wanted the growth between the first two toes removed, and the tailor’s bunion fixed. But when I woke up, he had done all three things. Ever since, I have had much worse pain in all three places. He even put screws in my shorter toe that hold it in a permanently twisted position so that I walk on the corner of the nail. He just shrugged and said “oh, well”. I have gone to another foot specialist who tells me there really is nothing that can be done other than to wear a pad on the bottom of my foot, which only addresses the tailor’s bunion area. At least she could offer that. He didn’t. Its been two years, and my foot still prevents me from any kind of long walking or standing without serious pain medication. It often wakes me up during the night with shooting pain. I would not recommend this… doctor to my worst enemy.

He is super amazing had it not been for him I would be crippled my ankle collapsed. I didn't even have enough bone to do a replacement so he did a ankle Fusion he is extremely patient and a wonderful bedside manner and he loves his patients he will do his very best to make you whole if you're going to him you're getting the absolute best!

I had my first appointment with Dr Ahuero earlier today. Got there on time and was shown into the exam room at exactly my appointment time. Everything about the lobby, the admitting staff and the interviewing nurse was first rate. Dr Ahuero came in promptly after x-rays were taken, reviewed the x-rays with me. We discussed my injury at length. He recommended a cortisone shot instead of more expensive surgery to see how the ankle would respond. Bottom line: This Doctor and his team are excellent in every way and I would highly recommend them.

He was very nice, listened to my concerns & addressed the issues well. I will be going back to him again.

Dr. Ahuero was highly recommended and lived up to his reference regarding both his technical and communication skills. I could not have been more pleased.
