Summary

I am a 4th generation Oregonian; born and raised in Portland. During medical school at OHSU, an early exposure to the specialty of Vascular and Interventional Radiology got me hooked. During residency and fellowship, I was mentored by older trail blazers and young clinically savvy teachers who showed me the promising future and impact we could have taking care of patients.

I believe I have one of the best jobs in medicine combining minimally invasive technology, imaging, and patient care. I do not sit in a dimly lit room looking at x-rays. I am a consultant who sees his patients and remembers their faces. In this specialty, I am involved in myriad disease processes. As a result, my partners and I treat diseases from head to toe it seems. Vascular disease and cancer care are two central focuses of my practice. I stay up to date by participating in clinical research in order to be an early adopter of what is on the horizon.

Interventional Oncology combines cutting edge minimally invasive techniques to treat non-operative cancers. This is a great passion of mine. Working collaboratively with surgeons and oncologists to help cancer patients is extremely rewarding. Affability and compassionate patient center care, based on research and experience, are my commitments to cancer patients and their family.

Minimally invasive treatment of arterial and venous disease is a core focus of my practice as well. Endovascular treatments combine the amazing power of non-invasive imaging and the latest device technology. The diagnosis and treatment of venous disease has grown in the past few years. I am board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology. Due to my desire to stay relevant, I became board certified in a third specialty, by sitting for the Phlebology Board in 2008. I truly enjoy the work up and treatment of venous disease from DVT to varicose veins and pelvic congestion.

Before a patient there is always a person. Many doctors can perform procedures. I work to bring the right procedure to each person whose problem I am asked to treat. I am honored to work with colleagues who share the same philosophy.

When not at work, I am fortunate to have a supportive family and enjoy my time with my wife Sarah and daughter Lucy. We cook, we travel, and we laugh together.

Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews

Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.

Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.
