Dr. Jason Alan Castator, MD

Had him 10 years ago. My cholesterol level was 277! Very high! One year later it was 222! Still high and he never even offered a cholesterol lowering Med! Did not give me high BP Meds under I finally asked, but he gave it to my husband right away. Also in 2010, had bad right sided pain, swollen. feet and nausea. CT abdomen showed fatty liver infiltrations and mildly elevated liver enzymes. He did NOTHING! Now 10 years later, we have just found out I have liver headed to liver failure! Early intervention back in 2010 would have extended the life of my liver!! He does not listen to patients and preferably treats men as soon as a problem than women. Oh, forget, leaving my cholesterol levels untreated, I had 2 heart attacks in 2017 and have heart failure. Thanks Jason!!!

I saw Dr. Castator at OSF prompt care on a Sunday afternoon. I told him that I had had a prostate infection before and that I was having difficulty urinating and I was sure that I had a recurrence of a prostate infection. He immediately dismissed me and prescribed Flomax and offered to insert a cathater which I refused. When I went to pick up the prescription, the pharmacist asked me about my allergy to sulfa drugs since Flomax contains sulfa. My allergy is clearly on my chart as the nurse asked me about it before I saw the Doctor. Since my allergy was diagnosed many years ago and the pharmasist said that many times people outgrow it, I went ahead and got the prescription. I took it for a couple of days, but it did no good. I then went to my doctor and saw the nurse practitioner who diagnosed me with a prostate infection. She prescribed an antibiotic and in a couple of days I was feeling much better. by the end of the prescription I was back to normal. If Dr. Castator had… taken time with me and not dismissed me out of hand I could have had relief much sooner. Considering the misdiagnosis and the prescription possibly drugs that I might be allergic to, I really think that he should listen more to his patients and also check the chart. This did not end in tragedy, but such an attitude on his part could in the future. In retrospect he assumed that since I was older my prostate problems were entirely age related since he quoted statistics to me.

He spent adequate time with me. He ordered the proper tests. He impressed as a knowledgeable doctor that performed his duties in a professional manner.

Excellent bedside manner, shows care and compassion for his patients. Takes time to get to know patients and to help them understand their medical conditions. Highly recommend him!
