I respect the medical profession, but patient wellbeing, safety must come before standardized treatment, pharmaceutical incentives, and student training. Dr. Jason Filopei was involved in my loved one’s care during a critical period in her ICU stay at the hospital. Unfortunately, my experience revealed serious gaps in communication, post-procedure care, and patient-centered decision-making, which led to avoidable complications during an already fragile condition. Issues Observed: 1)Rushed Intubation: He proceeded without discussing risks or alternatives, leaving the patient and family uninformed. 2)Excessive Sedation & Lack of Oversight: Sedation levels remained high for eight days without adjustments or direct follow-up. 3)Student Training Over Patient Safety: Over 12 students observed the procedure, creating unnecessary risk. 4)Lack of Holistic Care: Treatment was not well-coordinated, failing to address underlying conditions and compounded risks. Recommendations for… Improvement: a)Transparent communication with families before major medical decisions. b) Careful sedation management to prevent prolonged or excessive sedation. c) Limit student involvement in high-risk procedures with clear oversight. d)Holistic, well-coordinated patient care across specialties. e) Regular follow-ups to monitor and adjust treatment plans. The lack of oversight and communication in this case worsened an already fragile situation. Critical care requires more than technical skill—it demands diligence, compassion, and accountability, which were lacking here.

In today’s medical world of computers and virtual exams, it is rare to find a caring knowledgeable doctor who inspires confidence and well being which is at least half the battle for wellness.
