Jason Hackler, LAC

Dr. Hackler is a third‑generation Doctor of Oriental Medicine and a recognized lineage holder of Kototama Inochi Medicine, the system founded by Sensei Masahilo Nakazono. He began his Kototama studies in 1994 and completed a 4,000‑hour apprenticeship with Dr. Thomas Duckworth, earning his DOM license in 1999. In 2021 his teacher awarded him a doctorate in Kototama Inochi Medicine in recognition of his dedication to the lineage. Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Hackler blends traditional Kototama approaches with modern clinical assessment to offer focused, lineage‑informed care.

With nearly 25 years maintaining a busy family practice — including pediatric care — Dr. Hackler brings deep community and teaching experience to his work. Raised in Santa Fe, he apprenticed and practiced in New Mexico before relocating to the Midwest to practice and teach alongside Dr. Duckworth in St. Louis. There he served in leadership roles with the Acupuncture Association of Missouri, was appointed to …the state’s Acupuncture Advisory Committee, directed community health services through the Institute of American Acupuncture and Life Medicine (IAALM) for 18 years, and has trained apprentices who became licensed acupuncturists. In 2020 he completed a specialty doctorate (DAOM) from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, strengthening his biomedical assessment skills alongside advanced eastern medicine techniques.

Dr. Hackler specializes in integrative, trauma‑informed Oriental medicine that attends to the whole family and the whole person. His practice emphasizes lineage‑grounded Kototama methods, evidence‑aware biomedical evaluation, and personalized treatment plans aimed at long‑term resilience and recovery. Now back in his hometown of Santa Fe with his wife JennTara and son Isaiah, Dr. Hackler continues to offer compassionate, bilingual care rooted in tradition and contemporary practice.
