Dr. Jason Thatcher Hatfield, MD

Went to Cedar Park Family ER when a migraine got out of my control. I have chronic, intractable migraines and I’m allergic to the rescue medications. He was cold and unfeeling and prescribed three IM injections and when the medications was not entirely effective after waiting almost an hour for relief, he stood there looking at me and said “you should see your neurologist more often”. What? He never asked about previous issues, he never asked if I see a pain doctor, he didn’t ask about protocols, etc. I did ask to have the meds given via IV, as most migraine patients including myself get fluids upon presentation to an ER, and I was told these meds are better administered via IM injection. Sure they are. Any med administered via IM injection takes time to give you relief, typically 30-40 minutes. Meds administered via IV relief is almost instantaneous. When my pain level reduced from an 8 to a 5/6; he said no more meds. I told him I was still in a lot of pain and he said call… your doctor. It’s a Sunday you moron. I presented my protocol at this point, because I could think enough to remember it, and he looked and said I can’t do this. Avoid this doctor if you can, he’s not compassionate at all. Best part, woke up with head pain exactly where I left it.

I have never written a review about medical care, but I was so grateful for the care I received from Dr. Hatfield, that I felt compelled to include one here. He has the best bedside manner I have experienced - very comforting yet professional. I felt very safe despite the physical malady.

This Dr took his time to examine me and diagnosis me. Without him, i would have lost my leg. I shall forever be grateful of having him as a Dr in the ER and just when i was about to write ST David's off, it had an angel hidden.His kind; soft spoken; patient. He explains what his doing and what needs to be done.Kudos Dr Jason Hatfield at St.David's ER Pflugerville.More doctors are needed like him!!!!!
