Dr. Jason Aaron Lau, MD

Dr. Lau was the anesthesiologist for my procedure. I was extremely nervous and had a lot of questions, but he took the time to thoroughly answer all my concerns. He was very comforting and assuaged a lot of my anxiety. We shared some laughs and I felt much better going into the operating room and he even came to check up on me later. Thank you very much Dr. Lau!

Jason Lau was the anesthesiologist for a recent gynecologic procedure I had at NYU. Disinterested, unprepared, disrespectful, and cocky. While the gynecologist and other staff were ready, and I had already been waiting in nothing more than a hospital gown for 20 min, Dr. Lau decided this was the time to go out for lunch. Upon returning he rushed through the pre-op questions and consent. He asked nothing about my existing diagnosis of a heart condition called SVT, for which I had provided the requested EKG and records 3 wks earlier from my cardiologist (as requested by the gynecologist). When I asked if he knew I had SVT, he looked stunned and embarrassed and then dishonestly said Yes. When I asked again, he said no. This is critical info anesthesiologists are responsible for when managing sedation - and it appears his lunch took precedence over reviewing my chart. When we proceeded to the operating room, he inserted the IV and then let my arm hang down over the bedside. I had… to ask whether that was a safe position to have it placed back up on the bed. Dr. Lau appears young, inexperienced, lacking in professionalism, and seriously needs to prepare for every case (even gynecology procedures) and treat patients with appropriate respect.
