Dr. Jason Kimball Shellnut, MD

Had a bowel resection done. A week later severe pain when having bowel movement. Was back in hospital for 3 weeks with an infection and MULTIPLE tests until they figured out that MAYBE a suture came loose. Now 4 months later I have an incisional hernia at the biggest incision site. I might have to have surgery to repair that now. I can't afford another surgery. NOT HAPPY !!!

Dr. Shellnut is not only a great surgeon, but his patience with (this) patient's inane and endless questions, is remarkable. He listens to every complaint & never dismisses them. He has a warm bedside manner. His nurse in the office is professional, but very funny, too. And, completely unrelated, but worth mentioning: somehow Dr. Shellnut manages to pull off wearing the color orange!

I had a perforated bowel with abcesses. I was originally taken to a different hospital and was there a week when they discovered the drainage tube had been put in backwards. By the time I was transferred with Dr. Shellnut's OK as his patient at Beaumont Royal Oak, they wanted to put seven drainage tubes in. Dr. Shellnut performed my surgery which took several hours. After 50 days total in hospital, I left with no permanent damage and am now in great shape. This man is a gifted healer.

Having to endure a colonoscopy or anything dealing with intestinal issues is not something anyone wants to do, but Dr. Shellnut’s kindness, bedside manner and professionalism make the procedures much more tolerable for sure!

I have a chronic nerve pain condition called pudendal neuralgia. Dr. Shellnut couldn't understand the pain i was in BECAUSE it WAS NERVE PAIN in my rectum and since he couldn't see it, it must not exist, right?! He told me i would get used to it, like wearing a watch. Excuse me? You get repeatedly kicked in the privates and see how long it takes until you get used to it. Going on 6 years for me and im still not used to it.

Dr. Shellnut is very concerned about your well being. After my surgery he came by both days I was in the hospital to see how I was doing. Would recommend him highly to anyone I know having problems in his field.

Dr Shellnut is a excellent surgeon. He always takes the time to listen to what I am saying and answers all my questions. He gives me good advice. I highly recommend him as the best in the field!

Dr. Jason Shellnut is an incredible surgeon and such a fine human being. His surgical skills saved the life of my wife , Kathleen (Kate) Patterson and his bedside manner saved her sanity after her perforated bowel required a colosomy. That she survived is due ONLY because of the skill, expertise, precision, care and love has for his patients. My wife is so grateful that she tears up with deep emotion at the mention of his name.
