A doctor that is not only competent and thorough but also one that is personable is not easy to find. I used to travel 35 miles to Burlington WA to see a GI Dr that I really liked ... then she gave up her practice and moved out of state. I have subsequently seen 3 other GI's in Mt Vernon before Dr Slate was substituted for the one I was supposed to see. He is by far the best that I have ever met with, he actually listens to what I say and has never rushed me. It is nice that the office is only 2 miles from my home, but if I had to go back to Burlington to see him I would. If he could be cloned, a lot more of us would be happy. Ron Raczkowski

First of all, he glided into the room.. almost floating. It appeared that he was a bundle of positive energy which is what I needed as I was nervous for the appointment. Dr. Slate had a vast fund of knowledge and effortlessly formulated a plan specific to my issues. He was “poetry in motion”. Not only was I being evaluated and treated, but ENTERTAINED. I feel like I almost wanna get sick just so I can go back for another appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Slate for your Gastro needs...or just to be cheered up:). I feel better already and I haven’t even filled my prescription!

I was a patient of doctor Slate at Mercy Hospital . I had pancreatitis , he treated me and he was very professional, listened to what I need to say , very careering . He always goes and extra mile for his patients. Highly recommend.

After multiple emergency room visits and small bowel obstructions, I scheduled a consult with Dr. Slate. He patiently and thoroughly offered guidance on options for dietary and bowel regimens. He even followed up later to monitor my progress and to answer any questions. GI issues can be traumatic and life altering...Dr. Slate gave me the attention and support I needed!

I suspect the former reviewer identifying 5 errors and abandonment in treatment has misidentified his/her physician. How does a doc with a medical team abandon a patient in a hospital?

This physician is amazing! He has a great sense of humor. He has great bed side manners and always calls me back with results. The staff is great and courteous, very helpful when I call.
