While our visits were brief, since I had a therapist, I felt as though with each session I walked away with some new, clinical insight into my progress. He’s very realistic and does not try to impose his opinions. He shares them and also what he personally does to maintain his mental health. This helped me destigmatize treatment for myself (something I had struggled with previously) and open myself up to treating myself holistically by eating better, exercising, being more mindful about my emotions by journaling, and using natural supplements. An anecdote: I remember telling him how I felt guilty that I drank alcohol at times because I had been told I shouldn’t. He didn’t chastise me, rather he asked me how I felt when I drank. I told him i felt more open to express affection to friends and family, converse easily, dance, and less self-conscious. He told me “that’s who you really are! That’s the person inside that is trying to come out”. That blew my mind because I never thought of… myself being capable of being that person, and he showed me I could if I continued doing the work. I’m happy to say I’m on the road there, I can see the path. Psychiatrists are hard to find (I know from personal experience). Consider yourself fortunate to work with Dr. Singh.
